      Get this--a dream!

This was a recurring dream that I had quite a few years ago. It was basically the same every time, but with subtle differences. I tried to include as many versions of this dream that I remembered, so I hope it doesn't sound too muddled and confusing.

From my dream journal (a long time ago!):

      3/30/98

I’ve woken up in this dream a few times already, but each time I dreamed it, it felt very real.

I stood from my bed and looked out the window, expecting to see snow. Instead I saw a strange man standing on our lawn. He looked curiously like Lestat from the Interview with a Vampire movie. He wore his blond hair, tied at the nape of his neck with a leather chord, and old fashioned clothing. His arms were spread above his head and he seemed to be chanting, and somehow I could almost hear the words…

I saw a flash then, blinding me. When I got my sight back, the man was gone and the sun had exploded! It was replaced by a black hole, surrounded by a fiery ring. I saw waves of molten air coming toward us, and I even felt the heat too. Scared now, and no longer thinking of the man, I ran out into the living room, where Chris and Erin sat
(these were my two roommates back then). Another man sat on the opposite couch. He had long, brown hair and blue eyes. In some versions of this dream, he stood to hug and/or kiss me, while in others he only smiled warmly. I tried to explain what happened, what I saw, but no one took me seriously. Panicked now at what was about to become of us, I darted to the phone to call Dave. While I was trying to dial, the brown-haired man stood and wrapped his arms around my waist (was he my boyfriend or something?). He seemed kind of jealous.

In some versions of the dream, a strange girl answered the phone, and in others it was Dave himself, and in others I got no answer at all. In the dreams where I got an answer, I tried explaining what was going on (in one of them I elbowed the brown-haired man and he stormed off, angry at me).

Somehow I got a bunch of people together. And here is also where the dreams start to differ vastly. In one, we met on a mountain stronghold. In another we met in my apartment. In another we met at a fort in northern Maine somewhere. And in the one I’m recording now, we met on the rooftop of a tall building. Always there were 12 of us. I recognized everyone, I knew everyone somehow, even though I don’t recall who they were now that I’m awake. I remember seeing Chris and Erin, and Dave. There was also the brown-haired man, an older man, another female with curly blond hair, a red haired boy who seemed to be very paranoid. A man with black hair... There were others, but they’re vague to me now…

We discussed the sun’s explosion and it weighed heavily on us somehow. We weren’t at fault, but we had to stop it? I didn’t believe this could be happening… It was just a vivid dream, I’ve had them before. I said so aloud. No one believed me. So I moved to the edge of the roof and threatened to leap off. I think I worried everyone, especially Dave and the brown-haired man. In one version, Dave rushed at me, in another the brown-haired man. Someone (the brown-haired man or Dave, depending on which dream it was) was inching toward me, trying to calm me down. Before he could reach me, I let myself fall backward, knowing the rules of dreams, and knowing that I would NOT hit the ground. If I did, I would die. That's how things worked, right? I would wake up the split second before I hit the pavement, and I would be safe in my bed. But this time, I didn’t wake up… I hit the ground… very painfully.

In all of the dreams, I don’t know who reached my side first, the brown-haired man or Dave, but they were soon joined by the others. What could I do, but I sat there and cried.

Somehow my dreams seemed to skip forward at this point, and we realized we had to do something. We made a decision to journey somewhere.

Sometimes we were on foot, another time we were on a bus, another time someone’s car, another time a horse-drawn carriage. However the method, we ended up at a cave with four doors (each leading into a hallway). In one dream, we split up 3 to each door, and the other dreams we split up differently. I went into one door with Dave and two others. We fought a bunch of stuff, demons, strange robot things, other people, dead warriors… and at the end of the hall was a big grotto where all the hallways met up.

There was a daemon sitting on a huge, onyx throne. I can’t describe it except to say that it was pure evil incarnate. In some versions of the dream, all twelve of us reached him, and in others only a few. In one of them, only four of us reached him, three of us being myself, Dave, and the brown-haired man (why is he such a large part in this?). The daemon stood and laughed, and his laughter shook the grotto. His hand flew out and I was blown back against the wall. I was scared, I couldn’t breathe. And he was laughing at me.

saw Dave slam his fist into the ground, causing a massive earthquake around the daemon (I saw some energy there too, maybe I watch too much anime?). I saw the brown-haired man leap up and start hurling streaks of pure white fire. The daemon only got more angry. I tried to get up, they couldn’t fight alone, but I couldn’t move. I felt strange… like my body was mushy and my muscles wouldn’t respond. He plucked Dave off the ground and I watched him tear his body in two. He did it so easily… Without even any effort… He swatted the brown-haired man out of the air, and I saw him crash into the wall, just like me, and fall into a crumpled heap. He was bleeding and I couldn’t help him… Then the daemon looked at me, the last thing I saw was his claws reaching for me…

      And then I woke up.

      Wow

      Wow...

The beginning of it kind of reminded me of my avatar.

      The rest.. unique. Very interesting.

I only have one question, and I'm not sure if you can answer it.. (considering you yourself may ask this question to) Do you have any inclination as to what caused the suns explosion?

I enjoyed reading that.. Thank you for sharing!

I have thought about that, and I don't know. I wasn't made aware of it in the dream. Curiously, though, I didn't feel that it had anything to do with the Lestat-looking guy.

Wow, is it somthing from your past? or is it somthing to come?

Anyways, my dream log is only about 12 lines, yours is VAST. I suppose its becuase mine are still non-lucid, though I hope to increase my dreams detail as much as possible.

Honestly, I don't know... it could be either of those things. Or it could be my overactive imagination.

No one said you had to write a book. Twelve lines is just as good as my phone book up there!

I think I have very good dream recollection *pats herself on the back* I also try to record my dreams as soon as I wake up. If not immediately after waking, I'll do it as soon as I can. And remember, I've been doing this since I can remember. It's been awhile. But I'm no expert by any means. I'm still learning just like everyone else.
