Question 'Gazing' (Castaneda) in a lucid dream.

I've been practicing a method of meditation called gazing. It's basically self explanatory, you sit and stare in a broad perspective for about 30 minutes to an hour. I've been working on quieting my internal dialogue.

      anyway.

I had a lucid dream about 2 hours ago. I was laying in my friends room on my stomach, when I realized I was lucid, I did a few RCs looked at my hands, looked at a clock etc. I sat up and started to think; what do I want to accomplish in this dream. So I decided that I wanted to gaze. (I had decided earlier before the dream that I was going to do it and I remembered). I stared at his wall, and noticed that there was an orange circular wall clock shaped like a cat put into a ball. The strange thing is, it's eyes were alive like a humans. I gazed at this clock for about 1 minute, noticing that my internal dialogue was already quiet and I hadn't even hardly gazed. I felt myself starting to lose it, so I did a quick spin, and gained my self again. Then my friend dana came into my room. She asked me what I was doing. I told her that I was dreaming and that she was a DC. She blabbered some nonsense and left the room. At that point I lost lucidity and went into a normal dream. The room I was in was a home owners house that I was tiling with my brother in law. A man walked into my room, I was in my underwear and asked me to come into his room so he could specify the details of the work. I put on some clothes and went in. He had 2 2x2 blocks of very solid sanded dark wood. He asked me to get my tape measure and measure them. I did, which didn't make any sense. I found myself again laying in the bed, I thought I had woke up. I decided to do a RC and found out I was lucid again. I layed in bed and just stared at my hands for a while. Then I felt like I was losing it and I spun again.

      then I woke up.

how do you feel about gazing?
I am a man. I have nothing to show off. I am just a person withnothingexcept for what I would like to show off, which is nothing.

I have never tried that type of meditation before, and I haven't meditated in any dream before. Sounds like something that would be interesting to try.

Always fun to tell DCs that they are DCs...

This is the first time I've tried meditating in a dream, but since I posted this I tried it again. It's hard to focus, but when you do, it is almost instantaneous results.

I think I read somewhere that Buddhist munks practice lucid dreaming so that they can meditate in their dreams as well as when they are awake.

Gazing as described in CC's books reminds me of an experience I had several times as a child. Once I was led in bed staring at the pattern on the closed curtains when I was suddenly pulled right into them, I felt like I was suspended in a vast chamber surrounded by those dam curtains. It was terrifying.

Screw gazing, we need more people to try seeing.

Point your little finger at something and declare your intent to see it's energy. Since most things in dreams are illusory and have no energy, they disappear into mist. I've yet to see anything that generates energy, but it's a great way to make things disappear. Happens the same for everyone I've gotten to try it, wether they've read the books or not.

I think gazing is something that gradually leads to seeing. I think seeing is alot more difficult than that. I first need to figure out how to shift my assemblage point before I can even start to see. I read that one way to shift your assemblage point is "dreaming" CC style, which is kinda like lucid dreaming, and AP at the same time.

I wonder if it is possible to see in a dream?

I'm happy that I've found some people who know of CC/don juans teachings.

F**k it.. I keep trying to pull away from here, but I can't leave this one alone.

Cusp.. you may or may not remember that we've had this sort of discussion before.. so I'll reiterate what I said before:

"Seeing Energy" is a task of the 3rd Gate, and will not work until such time as one reaches the 3rd Gate.. it's a task for the "2nd energy body" which does not detach/appear until such time as one reaches the 3rd Gate..

It certainly does work (for some reason I use my left-hand little finger, but this may not be necessary) but never worked for me until I got into the 3rd Gate.

Of course, this info may be totally useless to people here. After all, "dreaming" may be totally "in the head"..

      Heh..

Agreed. The "gazing" part is part of the 1st Gate, which will lead to the subsequent Gates, if one folllows the directions as written in TAOD.. but you'd better be uber-sure that you know what you are doing. So-called "Toltec Dreaming" is not without its dangers, no matter what anybody may say. You need super-cold sobriety.

It is, and it isn't.. IF and when you ever do it, you'll wonder how you ever had problems in doing it in the first place.. but that's the nature of Toltec Dreaming.

Well.. IF IF IF you are 100% sure that you have had a genuine "lucid dream", you have already shifted your AP, and re-fixated it in a new position, (stalking), albeit maybe only for a few seconds..

IMO there is only one difference between LaBerge-style "lucid dreaming" and CC-style "Toltec Dreaming", and that is that the CC-style has a specific set of instructions, as portrayed in TAOD, and the LaBerge style has none.

IMO.. so-called "Astral Projection" is LDing.

Eminently so, but not until one reaches the 3rd Gate.

      All the best to you.

Oh boy.. well Cachero, you could Google "Gates of Dreaming" and/or you could read Castaneda's "The Art of Dreaming" in which the first four Gates (of seven) are described..

..but I'll repeat: do NOT attempt any of it unless you are UBER-SURE that you know what you are doing. The streets of the world are littered with the emotional wrecks who have tried it and got f***ed up.. it's quite dangerous if your temperament doesn't fit.

      Stay VERY frosty.

I own the art of dreaming, I just haven't read it yet. I'm reading 'the fire from within' right now.

What do you mean by that? How can you go wrong? How will I know if my temperament doesn't fit?
