      The Amazing Race

      The Amazing Race

Some of you may have heard of "Lucid Island." Well this is kind of the same, but different.

After writing this tutorial I was talking to some people and we touched on how that method of dream control could allow for lucid dreams to become more like video games.

Usually in lucids your god, there are no rules or anything. Lucid tasks here on the site focus on seeing who comes up with the most creative dream power to complete the tasks.
They focus on who can be most godlike.

This will be a video game for your LDs. To participate you must use the form of dream control I just linked you to.
The reason this is different from other lucid dream tasks is because I'm going to give you a setting, a ruleset, and a task that you must complete.

The fun of this is that you must actually be creative in how you go about doing the task:

      Rules:

      Rule 1: Absolutely no "powers"

You are not invincible, you cannot fly, you have no superpowers of any kind.

The dream is set to "real life" standards. If you can't do it in real life, you can't do it in this dream.
Also just to note, no passive powers can be used either. No item creation!
(Of course, this doesn't mean you can't take a policeman's gun as you walk past. If something is illogical --"a gun is under this vending machine"-- then its considered passive control.)

Rule 2: The world must be logical and flowing like real life.

You can't walk to a place thats five miles away in two minutes.
The real life laws of nature apply in this dream. If its going to take a long time to get there, steal a motorcycle or something -- just remember that traffic will react in exactly the same way as it would in real life: you may get hit.

Though laws of nature apply, you can still break all social norms
Keep in mind though, if you get shot you still bleed. Your not superpowerful, a bikerdude can still beat your ass if you piss him off.

Rule 3: If you die, you start over.

If you get shot, or your head busts open, you HAVE to start over.

In other words, be careful not to slay too many pedestrians, the cops may take notice.
By start over, I mean either get back to where you started, or just re-spawn there when you resurrect.

      __________________

Those are the rules. Rules must not be broken.
If you break a rule, remind yourself that thats against the rules and keep going.

      The Task:

Choose whichever suits you, they all lead to basically the same end:
(Notice: for all of these, you start out with only the clothes on your back and a pocket knife)

      1. You just got a transmission from the government, they've secretly launched a nuclear warhead straight for this city. You have ten minutes to get your ass to the bomb shelter on the outskirts of the city, its about ten miles away.
      2. You've killed many people in your years as a hitman, now the FBI is on to you. They've deployed hundreds of operatives to seek you out and kill on sight. You have a very short amount of time to make it to a helicopter thats on the top floor of the building your in. All the elevators are being watched.
      3. Your an FBI operative that has to take down the hitman before he reaches the top. You just run into the building when you see him sprinting into the door that leads to a stairwell. You've been given the authority to kill anyone on sight.
Why do this? Because instead of having a bunch of dream powers, you're going to have to think about your next move and try to judge what would be the best route.

This is a video game, not sandbox. Do you have the skills to kill your target/ reach your destination before time runs out?

      To recap on the rules:
      1. No magical powers.
      2. The world is set to "real life," it must stay consistent like real life.
      3. Death means you restart the whole experience.
      TIPS:
      • View all the DCs around you just like you would view people in real life. You aren't in control of them, some other force is (lets just say your subconscious or something). They are free-thinking individuals, not puppets of your mind.
(Note: by thinking like this you'll allow whatever creates dreams to put the same effects on them as it does on tables: we all "kind of" know how to "read" people, which enables us to create seemingly free-thinking individuals in our dreams. {think about your normal dream's dream characters, they mostly all seem ultra realistic right?})
      • Think of this like your in virtual reality, you need to get supplies early so you can use them later, etc etc.
Think of it like a video game. I've just made the world and rules, now you must follow them to your objective.
      • Have fun with it. This isn't actually a race against your peers, but a whole new experience altogether.
      • Use this tutorial to render the world. I explain everything much more in-depth there.
