      Are dream guides real?

Hey guys, I've been having alot of LDs lately and I've been trying to talk alot to my DCs but I usually get nonsense from them. One time I had a very realistic FA, walked upstairs, saw my parents sitting there reading the paper, and asked if either of them was my dream guide. My mom laughed and my dad was like, yes I am your dream guide. Obviously I didn't believe him. I don't think I trust anything that any of my DCs tell me. On another instance I was at a party and I was like, you people all know you are just in my dream right? And they just kinda ignored me and were like, yeah so. So what I am wondering is what is the point in speaking to DCs and trying to find out if they have any "messages" for us or whatever. And I am starting to really question the idea of a dream guide and if that really exists.

A "Dream Guide" as in some mystical spiritual angelic beeing to guide you in your dreams, no I dont think so.
Dream characters are you, or what you expect them to be in a way. So maybe if you appoint DG status to one of your DC's you can get subconcious information out of him/her that you might not even conciously know about. (or believe the DC because he/she says she's your DG)

      Hey lucidnina

I'm not sure about dream guides themselves, but I do believe that its entirely possible for DC's to be external of yourself.
I base this on my shared dream experiences (the other person was surely not in my own head)

Theres a massive thread on ld4all in the lucid laboratory regarding the realness of DC's
They would sure appreciate your experiences with DC's and if you'll lots of information about other people's dream guide experiences.

Hey, Ice/Seeker... can't we start a 'lucid laboratory' sort of section too?

I tried to find my DG on my 2nd LD but had no luck as they people I saw seemed to by lying to me and I woke up frustrated. The other day I had a LD and I was in my room I just shouted "Make my DG appear!" and I heard footsteps coming up my stairs, really slowly! I got really scared cos it was dark and I had no idea what the DG will look, act, sound like and so I woke up in "fright". Haven't had LD since so I might try again 2nite and keep cool

      Haha Phallam

Maybe you've put so much into trying to find this "all important DG" that your mind sort of created this scary entity that frightened you. I think I agree with CT, that all DCs come from you and maybe you can pick one to appoint as your "subconsious" and make that one your dream guide?

I've never looked for a dream-guide, but I'm always fascinated with DCs in LDs. For me they're an illustration of how arbitrary definitions of "self" and "other" can be. I mean, what is a DC? It's entirely internal to my mind, yet there I am standing next to it, equally internal to my mind. And a lot of times they're no one I know or have met--did I totally make them up? A couple times in non-LDs, I've met entities that seemed genuinely outside of me. Once it was an oracle-type-figure (going by the name "Jack Kerouac" oddly enough), and another time my deceased grandmother, who seemed to think that it was my grandfather who died, not her.

In any case, I always find DCs worth talking to.
If you have a sense of caring for others, you will manifest a kind of inner strength in spite of your own difficulties and problems. With this strength, your own problems will seem less significant and bothersome to you. By going beyond your own problems and taking care of others, you gain inner strength, self-confidence, courage, and a greater sense of calm.Dalai Lama

I completely know what you are talking about! I usually don't know any of my DCs unless I try to get someone in particular to appear...in which they either appear as normal or as a distorted version of themselves. Weird. But sometimes I stand there and look at them in amazement because they seem like real people! It's nuts. But I love taking advantage of my boy DCs hahaha. I also know what you mean about meeting some people who seem like they are "outside" of yourself. I've had this experience once when I met this man named Alan...I was convinced he was a real person living in San Fransisco (I'm in Ohio) and I assumed he was my DG...but I haven't seen him since so I doubt that. For me DCs are more fun to play with than to talk to. HA!

Ive never met my DG, but i think that ive created them. Ive made this labratorium in my head. Learnt it on a course a long time ago. There i created two helpers, one male and one female. The apperance they have isnt that important but that they are there to help me. Ive never gotten into my labratorium in a LD, but ive tried many times when gotten lucid. But i think those two will be there and guide me trough alot. Really hope so because they would be the greates DG!

Distorted versions of people I know have been dreamsigns for me in the past--like, \"Wait, you're not you...so what are you?\" and instand RC.

Yeah, the thought "Hey, I'm dreaming!" is often followed by "Conjure beautiful woman."

I've never gon looking for my dream guide, however, one time there was this woman who seemed a little wiser and more in charge that the usual run of the mill DC. Perhaps she was my DG? I don't know since she has never shown up since that one night.

I've never really tried to look for a dream guide either - what should I expect from one if I encountered him (or her)?

Oh, and Pade-o, I wish you hadn't asked about Tausaur's PICTURE THINGY - 'cause now it's starting to bug me. What is that thing?!

OMG REALALALALALALALALALALALALA! ... I'll shut up now.

Yes, yes and a thousand times yes. My dream guide from that old topic I did (The one who said she was better than my subconsious) is basicly established as my dream guide now, but she doed like fighting with my subconcious.

In my opinion dream guides could sometimes be real entities/spirits sent by god to help you.
But sometimes they arnt concious beings they are just created by your mind.
But since god is in control of everything when you speak with a non concious dream guide, god can still speak to your through that non concious dream guide if you get me so they are then almost real.
Sorry for those of you who arnt spiritualists cause you will think im talking rubbish but for those of you that are, thats what I think.
