Do you think your expectations had anything to do with the stability of your dream? You mentioned that you already assumed the lights would not work, and that you knew you needed a door to switch locations. Maybe your expectations about the quote you listed helped to create the stability?
Thanks Robot !
Great questions, making me think deep here =). What is it that you're trying to come to conclusion on by asking these questions, so I may better answer them. Stability meaning being able to continue about the dream so effortlessly first try, or stability meaning the dreamscape not wavering and not being able to mold my environment to my liking(ie. door not taking me where I wanted)? And the quote I gave didn't come to mind until after I had waken up and sat in bed wondering why the door trick didn't work.
PS: I have edited the initial lucid expierence to make things a little more clear so you might want to reread to help answer
Edit: and John11, going along with what you said, in my initial LD if I would have just closed my eyes/thought about the garden being on the other side, THEN opened the door, walked in, closed it, and THEN opened my eyes it probably would have worked. Originally I just closed the door with eyes open, thought in my head that I would be in the garden upon opening it and walking through, but I just walked into my room/bathroom(depending on door used). I think the whole eyes open thing made it hard for me to accept the change in scenery, since that kinda stuff doesn't happen in the waking world. But I could be wrong
