      Lucid In Someone Else's Mind

This was a new experience for me, just because of the way the dream was set up. The dream was about being inside someone else's mind, and when I ran into trouble, I remembered how good I usually am at dream control, and I was trying out some abilities and everything. But, while I had complete control over my actions, and I was aware that I was in a dream (and, thus, able to try to do some cool moves), I just didn't realize it was my dream, until the end.

Just thought it was all kind of amazing, and wanted to share.

(This one was pretty interesting. I've had dreams within dreams before, but I've never had a dream where I was in someone else's dream. I don't remember a whole lot of it, but the whole concept of how this one played out was awesome.)

I was with two other guys, and we were part of an operation that sent us inside the mind of a mentally disturbed girl. We were supposed to locate some sort of blocked memory from her childhood, that was going to help her psychological therapy along (kind of like the whole The Cell premise). I don't remember anything from the "real world," but once we entered her mind, it was as if we were entered a warehouse. Instead of going through a surreal "dream world" with vivid landscapes and fragmented continuity, we walked through a massive storeroom with various objects and boxes filed away, all over the place. Each of these objects were the girl's memories. What was surreal was that some of them were gigantic in size, such as a very large, pink, children's bike that stood up in a corner, some 15ft tall.

After roaming around this warehouse of memories, we came to a huge docking area door at the far end of the "building." I went over to take a look, and one of the guys told me to be careful, because this was where all of the girl's childhood nightmares were stored. Tampering with it in the wrong way could unleash any or all of her forgotten nightmare creatures to run rampant within her mind, which could send her into an even worse psychological state. It was also where we were going to find clues to the blocked memory.

The guy who knew the most about what we were doing here, a young, apparent American (judging by the way he talked) of middle-eastern descent, came over to the panel near the door, where I was standing. The panel was very high-tech, and had a screen on it with a scrolling marquis of all types of monsters and disturbing images - a display of the atrocities held behind the door. The apparent technician opened up a service hatch in the floor, under the computerized panel, and crawled down inside of it. He got to work doing...something or other, and we just kind of watched him from above while he worked. He was supposedly able to navigate the contents behind the door this way, to find clues in her nightmares to whatever memory it was we were looking for.

A few seconds after he started, an alarm began blaring. The guy below us began panicking, saying that something had gone wrong, and the door was about to open, releasing something from within. He stayed below, in the hatch, and the two of us up top scrambled backward as the huge door hissed and ascended high over our heads. Immediately, a goliath of a monster stomped out from storage. It was 20ft tall, easily, and had a top-heavy, muscle-ridden body with arms like redwood trunks. And it looked really, really pissed off.

The tech-guy screamed out that we had to keep this thing from getting away into the different corners of this girl's mind, or it could do irreparable damage to her. In a bit of a strange twist, I realized that this was a dream world, and that I was good at dream control. Not sure if anything was going to work, because this wasn't my own mind. (In essence, I became lucid, without really becoming lucid. ) I squared off against the massive monster, and planted my feet, pulling my hands back to one side and trying to summon a kamehameha energy blast. When I threw them out in front of me, nothing but a pitiful wave of distortion shot out of my palms, doing absolutely nothing to the monster. He charged in toward me and I dodged off to one side, jumping toward a wall and running straight up it, vertically, until I was higher than the beast's head. When I was high enough, I did a twisting backward flip over the monsters head, throwing my hands downward, repeatedly, and trying to fire multiple blasts of energy at the monster's head as a flipped and twisted over top of him. Nothing but short puffs of failure bursting from my hands. I landed the impossibly high flip perfectly, though, crouching and facing the towering creature, completely out of ideas.

Suddenly, just as soon as the action had started, it stopped. Time had rewound, and we were back roaming through the storage facility again, just beginning to approach the large door. It was then that I noticed that we'd done this before. I remembered the monster, and trying to use powers. I then realized that this wasn't the girl's dream. It was mine. I was now actually lucid. The first thing I did was look at my hands, and everything was just about as vivid as it was, before. I had to actually try to visualize my hands as being distorted, before the began to warp and change shape. The DC's I had been with were still playing their roles, though, and were going to work on the hatch again. I told them there was no need for that, because I was the one dreaming. It took some coaxing, but I got them to abandon the mission so we could go find something else to do. I distinctly remember one of them protesting - citing the importance of the mission - as we were walking away from the hatch, and me telling him to "just shut up, DC", feeling frustrated after my attempts at beating the monster before had been so futile. The thought crossed my mind to try fighting it again, but I didn't really feel like wasting the dream on it.

(Unfortunately, that's all I remember, and I woke up shortly after that. I came to the PC to take down my notes and then went back to sleep.)

Very cool!! I love it when the mind comes up with such cool random concepts.
I like the detail about the large pink bike especially...

I like the idea of a bunch of technician dudes all running around in my warehouse of a brain knocking down cobwebs. It reminds me of those old slim jim commercials in the guy's stomach. You would be throwing kamehamehas at Macho Man Randy Savage.

      You've seen Paprika, right?

Yeah, the bike is definitely one of those images that sticks with me. It was just so strange to see it sitting there, so naturally, but so freaking huge. Haha. It looked a lot like my daughter's bike, actually, which is propped up against our garage wall, pretty much the same way.

LMFAO @ at the Slim Jim reference. I used to love those commercials. I forgot to write in the possible inspiration for this dream (which I'll have to go back and add to my journal), but I caught the end of Vanilla Sky, just before bed last night, and it dawned on me that it was probably Tom Cruise's screaming "TECH SUPPOOOORRRRTTT!!!" that birthed the idea.

And yeah, I've seen Paprika. Weird as hell (with the whole parade situation), but I loved it. I didn't even think about that being another possible inspiration.

      hmmm

this reminded me of something I read a while back (it took me a lot of time to dig back up!!!)

I don't know if you believe in astral projection or 'astral work' but take a look anyways.

      Coincidence or not? you decide

"My first OBE, with the split-consciousness, showed me that parts of the psyche can be very active during sleep. But I never considered myself an astral social worker by night. That is, until the morning of Tuesday, September 1, 1981, when I had my 46th OBE.

Sometime after midnight, I unexpectedly woke up out of my body. When I awoke, I was standing next to my bed, in the middle of my bedroom. I was a bit surprised, but before I could gather my wits about me, I was "put under" by my subconscious. It felt as if I were knocked out by a professional anesthesiologist.

A while later, I woke up out of my body a second time. Again, I was standing in the middle of my bedroom. This experience was also cut short when I was "put under" by my subconscious.

It seemed an hour or so passed. Then, just like my first OBE, I slowly started to become more conscious and I was aware of having multiple consciousness. My awareness increased until I was fully conscious, but this time my conscious self was an observer. I was allowed to watch with astral vision, but I wasn't in control. Another part of me was running the show, doing some very serious work, and knew all the tools of the trade. What I saw was astounding.

I was gliding slowly up from below, until I saw what looked like a human brain. I could sense the body it belonged to. Somehow, I knew it was my own body. The brain looked like about one hundred small spheres of light, grouped in the shape of a human brain. Each sphere had a different brightness. I noticed that four particular spheres were shining brighter than the rest, and I knew they had been cut off from the other spheres. Using my mind tools, I worked for about 10 minutes adjusting neural pathways, "rewiring," and manipulating energy. Then I recharged the four spheres with energy. Next, I programmed the brain so that it would use different neurological connections and make automatic adjustments! I was a psychic healer in my sleep!

Satisfied with my work, I left. I approached a second brain and followed the same process. I rewired, transferred energy, then programmed the brain to aid in the healing process. After I was finished with the second brain, I worked on a third and then a fourth.

The fifth brain was a much more difficult case. As I approached the brain, I could tell that it belonged to a forty- year-old woman with dark hair. Like the others, she had some physical problem and I sensed many damaged parts of her body.

I went through the same sort of procedure. I looked at the brain and saw many messed up spheres. I sensed that she had stopped using certain parts of her brain until she had lost the use of these spheres. I pulled myself very close to those spheres as if I were looking through a magnifying glass, and began to work. I worked for about an hour on her, "rewiring" and opening pathways. I transferred a lot of energy to her. My energy spread throughout her body, healing as much damage as possible. Then I spent a long time programming her brain to heal her body. As I left, her body and brain were both busy with the healing process.

As I approached a sixth brain, the observing part of my psyche began to gain more control. As this happened, I was poured like a liquid into my body. As I came to, I was in complete awe. I looked at my clock and saw it was 2:00am. I went over the experience several times in my mind so I would not forget. Then I drifted off toward sleep.

At once, I saw another brain. Then my subconscious realized that "I" was consciously tagging along again. It quickly went back to my body and I woke up again. I dozed off again and this time I was out cold. My subconscious didn't take me along this time. The next memory I have is of dreaming sometime later in the night.

This OBE taught me many things. It taught me that sleep is not "idle" or "wasted" time. It taught me the importance of helping people, and the importance of work. It was a humbling experience; It gave me a great reverence toward my higher self. "

I don't get it, where's the "coincidence" in having a dream? Or was that just an interchangeable phrase?
