      Yes!

I just had one! Damn I feel great about this! I was at school with a ton of students until I had started to think.... "Aaaayyyyyye wait a minute, this isn't right; I can't be at school - it's the christmas holidays!". However, even though I at least had thought I was dreaming, I couldn't fly

Damn, that dream was extremely vivid! There is literally no distinction between reality and the dream I experienced.

Congratulations! Now that your mind knows what you are looking for, you are sure to have lucid dreams more often!

Fantastic! It sure is an incredible feeling isn't it. Whenever I have a LD I am always on a high the following day.

Hey don't worry, you will be able to fly. Just imagine your body being gently lifted into the air as though suddenly you weigh almost nothing. Start with a small goal of simply trying to levitate your 'featherlite' body one metre off the ground. Once you get up one metre gently drift forward and upward. I recommend looking down to keep a visual. That way you're less likely to wake up.

might start? I am a huge fan of reality checking. They take so little effort and get you TONS of lucid dreams. I would absolutely restart

I know I should be searching through the reality check forum, however... how do you complete reality checks throughout your daily life?

Here are some answers I've written to similar questions:

If I am in a dream, these reality checks will work. My finger will go through my palm *finger goes through palm* That digital clock is going to be messed up *digital clock is screwy* My hands will have strange fingers *hand looks messed up*. Aha, I must be dreaming!

Not all in that particular order. But that's pretty much the thought process you want to be going through. Is it a dream? Why. Is it not a dream? Why isn't it.

Pause now to ask yourself the following question: "Am I dreaming or awake, right now?" Be serious. Really try to answer the question to the best of your ability and be ready to justify your answer.

A good reality check method: stop everything you are doing, don't allow yourself to get distracted. Look around you. Where are you? Should you be there? Do you remember getting there? Does the situation make sense? Do you remember dressing yourself in the clothes that you are wearing? Seriously question these things, and on top of that look at the number of fingers you have, or the digital time, or whatever.

Also, make sure that you always do a couple of different reality checks, since they sometimes will not work. Look at your hand, look away, look back. No change? Try to breath with your nose plugged (I don't like that RC there are too many reasons the mind can come up with for why it should fail). Try to push your finger through your palm. Feeling resistance? Tell yourself, "Well, if this is a dream, my hand doesn't even exist! so my finger should pop through!" If it still doesn't work, look at a digital clock. Note the time, look away, and look back. Did it change? Etc. I usually do the finger through palm, look at my hands, and read some text or a digital clock every time that I RC.

What you do, is any time something "dreamlike" occurs, you should conduct a reality check. That is, anything that will draw your attention to the fact that you are in a dream.

For me, I like to try to push my finger through my palm, look at the number of fingers on my hands (usually +/-5 in a dream), look at my clothes and try to remember if I put them on or not, try to place where I am in the world (works if you are in an unfamiliar place), etc. Some people like to pinch their nose and breathe, because in RL you wouldn't be able to, but in a dream you can.

Now, you should do a few of these reality checks any time something seems strange, or unusual, or something isn't working the way it should, or you have any sort of deja vu, or any time you can't understand what someone is doing and then suddenly realize it (this happens a lot in my dreams).

Every time that you do a reality check you should pause everything else that you are doing, look around yourself, and try to figure out why it is that you aren't in a dream. Do a few of the reality checks (sometimes they don't work, so always do more than one). Do this as often as those strange circumstances (or whatever serve as a stimulus for a RC) occur. There is no set amount you should do in a day.

Once you get in the habit of doing this, you will start being more and more aware. In dreams, you will be more conscious and question whether or not you are in a dream more often and strongly. Then, you'll think that maybe it is a dream afterall, and you'll do a couple of RCs. If your finger goes right through your hand, or if you are wearing clothes you've never seen before, or whatever, you should realize it is a dream and become fully conscious.

The other thing that you are talking about is either hypnagogic imagery, or the WILD technique. Keep practicing! You'll get better. There are tutorials all over the site!

      Hope that helped!

Does anyone know how I should remember to do RC's?
I did them for a while while I was bored and was thinking about LD'ing, but the problem is that in dreams I'm never bored
I just never think about it during the day.

To remember doing RC I always use whenever I think about food/drinks or going to the bathroom AND when I'm at school and the bell rings. ^^

I was doing RCs SOOOO MANY TIMES per day, from mid-October until the first week of November... then, after I had my first 2 LDs, I just sort of tapered off, and forgot to do them. Now I keep saying I'm going to remember but I NEVER frigging remember, and it's pissing me off! I don't know how to remember! I think I need to read DV more often, b/c when I was reading it EVERY day, I would remember to do RCs more, b/c my mind was constantly thinking about dreaming...

Set some times to do RCs. That's what I do. I do it when I 1) think about food/drink/bathroom 2) am at school and the bell rings or the teachers say my names 3) when I think about dreaming (der?) and 4) when I wake up. ^^

That's a good idea! I try to do them when I wake up, but often I forget... but I'll set my Blackberry to say something like, "Am I dreaming?" or something like that on the screen. I have done about 4 today, which is more in one day than I've done in several weeks! Hopefully I keep it up.

Hey Shift that's funny coz the nose pinch test is pretty much the only RC that works for me. My dreams are so unbelievably real and vivid that clocks behave normally, my hand looks normal (I've started checking my jewelery and that usually looks a bit off but soon my brain will be able to replicate my jewelery and that won't work anymore). But hey I like your idea of checking my clothes! I'm going to add that to my RC routine. My clothes are often funny in dreams.

I'm now completely in the habit of doing RCs. I carry around a piece of paper with a list of all the times I should do RCs and every time I do a RC I re-read my list and think about what to keep a lookout for.

I have to do RCs because my dreams are so realistic that without them I would hardly stand a chance of becoming lucid, but with RCs I'm getting lucid just about every night!

I'm the same, I always forget to do them, I'm going to start using events in everyday life to remind me instead of relying on myself to do it.

I ALWAYS forget to do them in my dreams, but I've only been training since the 12th of April so I'm not getting that upset over it.
