      Question Memory Replay Expirement

Has anyone ever tried to replay a memory in an LD, i havent been able to but I'm wondering if anyone can do this, if you cant and your reading this then I chalenge you to try this out sometime.

Also if you can do this, please tell us how you do it because it would be a realy cool trick to be able to replay one of your favorite memories.

P.S I dident know whether or not to post this in the Lucid Expiriment forum or the General Lucid Discussion forum so if there are any problem just move it.

Sounds like a good idea! Maybe someone who has had some experience with this will come along and notice this thread... hint hint?

Well if this is actually an experiment, like you want to control the variables and test something, then this belongs in the research forum. If you just want to hear about peoples' experiences doing this, then this is the right place.

I personally never have. I can replay memories in my head without the struggle of becoming lucid, so to be lucid and then attempt to replay a memory that I think probably wouldn't be accurate seems like a waste imo.

I don't think it can be done. All dreams are based on memories, but they're never quite the same as the original. Plus memories aren't absolute, they change over time. Dreaming is probably the process of rearranging your memories.

Well the idea is that maybe our subconcious can replay the event with much more detail and bring back feelings of sound taste emotions etc etc. I have had non-lucid dreams of memories that felt very realistic, if you were to be lucid you could possibley choose the memory you want to relive. Hope that cleard things up,

When I tried to remember things in LDs I usually remembered them incorrectly. Not that I realized it at the time, but after waking up it became obvious.

Replaying a memory could probably work in a correct way, because you knew what you were going to replay before falling asleep and so you're ready to repeat it "by heart".

Then it's better be done in a state when your mind is not so messed up as in LDs, imho. In LDs you "know" that your memory is correct, only to wake up and understand that your feelings were deceiving you. In waking when you "know" that your memory is correct, it's a reliable feeling.
