      Scariest Experience Ever

Alright this might not be THE scariest, but this one had me thinking for days,

I'm not gonna tell all about the dream, bottom line is:

i'm dreaming, walking in a plain/mountainy scene, tele-communicating with one of my best friends (no phone or anything, speech just reaches between us). So anyways i was SO VERY LUCID, i was thinking to myself i'm gonna tell him this : "Hey, you should remember this conversation so when we meet in real life i'm gonna ask you if you remember this conversation we had and that means we broke the barrier between dream-life and waking life". So, i went : Hey, you should remem....

      AND THEN THIS HAPPENS:

I Hear an extremely loud "Shhh" (like 5 voices) in my ear, like really so close to my ear. I wake up in bed, head on the pillow, I can't open my eyes and I'm stil hearing "Shhh" i try to lift my head from my pilling and open my eyes, convinced this was still the dream, but i kept being pulled back down to my pillow, it was such a fight to get my head up and all the while the voices stil "SHHH" 'till i try one last pull-up and i got my head up, sitting half up, thing is , i still heard the voices while i got my head up with my eyes open for a bit, then i didn't hear it in my ear anymore but i'm sure i heard it in someway : DON'T CROSS OVER

      Your oppinion plz ?

I think it was a false awakening, but don't take my word for it.

i was just freaked out about the voices you know, not trying to get supersticious and all but, they actually prevented me from telling my friend remember this so we can talk about this in real life and they said don't cross over, this gave me the creeps seriously, aside from not being able to wake up and all, wich probably was, like you say a false awakening

that doesn't sound like a FA - more like waking up in sleep paralysis with your brain still firing off dream content.

that's really interesting, though. the voices telling you not to cross over may just be part of your ego trying to safeguard you from something it isn't too comfortable with.

... er, or i could talk about inorganic beings but this isn't the place for that and i'm no authority on it o_O

waking up in sleep-paralysis ? sleep paralysis = body paralyzed or ? sorry i'm really no expert on all the dreaming vocab

anyways this experience was a mindfuck and i keep thinking about it.
telling me don't cross over wasn't even the worst part come to think about it...

the worst part was just that i was so lucid and thinking i HAVE to tell him this and i had the tought first , than carefully thought out how i was gonna say it and then started saying it like you would in waking life.
and than this damn Shhh, it was so up in my ear

Yeah, better leave discussion about inorganic beings in the Beyond Dreaming forum...I tend to agree with your statement about the ego reacting with fear. Anything that goes beyond the control of the ego tends to freak it out, so a negative reaction, especially in the beginning of this practice, isn't unexpected.

Lost Kiddo, my only suggestion to you is to not focus too much on this dream, just let it go. Obsession is not a good idea under any circumstances, but in the super thought reactive arena of dreaming, it is a really bad idea. I can sympathize with your emotional reaction since I too have had these, but control is the key here if you want to move forward and have useful, enjoyable experiences. Simply put, you get what you think, so be careful what you think...or the inorganic beings might come and get you!

      JUST KIDDING!

yes, you can wake up before your body comes out of sleep paralysis and still perceive some dream-like elements. that's only happened to me once, though. nothing to worry about, as beenthere said.

I usually get a shhhh sound when i'm in sleep paralysis, it's almost like a white noise or static sound.

No need to be freaked out about it. As mentioned, it was a result of waking up into sleep paralysis, which is a pretty common occurrence. What you heard was called a hypnapompic hallucination, also very common. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypnagogia

Definitely woke up into Sleep Paralysis,
Something similar happened to me once. I woke up and tried to WILD, started getting HH's, in the HH's I was spectating a magic act, as part of the audience. The magician was about to perform the famous act of sawing a woman in half. He grabbed the saw and started cutting the box. Suddenly everything goes dark, two huge hands grab the magician and his female assistant and pulled them into the darkness. All I could hear was painful screams. Then I was back in my bed, but I could still hear their screams.

Yeah, this exact thing used to happen to me all the time. I was terrified of sleep paralysis for years. I thought I was possessed, blah blah blah. It's horrifying especially when combined with hypnagogic hallucinations.

As far the idea of you being blocked from shared dreaming, I suggest you go with the basic tenet of dream interpretation: you are your own best interpreter.

You are going to go to sleep many thousands of times this lifetime. You can always go back and try it again.

Why don't you call out the voices in your head and see what your mind makes up?

Voices during sleep paralysis are always creepy. Don't let it deter you from lucid dreaming. Think of it another fun state of consciousness to explore, even if it is a little frightening.

you just woke up from the lucid dream into the SP.
That's explains everything. You could not move, your heard sounds.. halucinations caused by sleep paralysis.

You shouldn't get scared about that, try to understand how your body and mind works, then you'll know what stage you're and how you can pass through it.

      Hope it helps (:

Yeah, I had something similar but totally different. Its Exploding Head Syndrom, or when you wake up and the dream fallows you. It happened to me once and it was the scariest thing of my life. I woke up one (I slept in my loft because my aunt had come over and took my bed). I looked around and saw are family computer when suddenly blood red started flashing in my eyes while the sound of cars crashing and a loud buzzing sound began. It lasted about 5 seconds until I hid under my covers and soon fell asleep again. I was about 8 at the time.
      Me, "Why are you crying?"
DC, "People won't be my friend because I'm ugly."
Me, "Well I will be your friend... I guess."
DC, "Ewww no! Your ugly too."

Man that was some messed up dream you had. It had me shaking alittle bit. What does it mean when they said, *Don't pass over" What could they mean by that? I hope I don't experience this.

Don't fear it too much or the fixation may subconsciously create the experience.

The key is, simply, not to fear. I've had SP only once, and it came after a dream of being attacked by demons. I felt hands on my shoulders pressing me into the bed, and a threatening voice whispered in my ears (it was unintelligible, but it sure sounded nasty, and I got the distinct impression it was a threat/warning). Then I felt the hands slide off my shoulders and I could suddenly move again.

Scared the shit out of me back then. Knowing what I know now, I hope to have similar experiences again.

Yeah I've had the same similar experience last night. I hope I never have it again. I had one of those false awakening dreams. I woke up on my couch that's in my room. It was pitch black in my room also I know I had left the TV turned on... I always leave the TV on before I fall asleep... Then I saw a shadowy demon like figure standing beside me, It looked human but it was covered in shadowy cloak. It felt like someone was there and I looked at the wall. I saw someone standing right next to me. They saw me and started attacking me screaming some words. It was really terrifying I hope I don't have another one of those dreams again. That was the 2nd time this has happened to me and I don't know whats going on. That was the scariest experience I have ever had in my life being strangled by a shadow like demon/spirit what ever. Especially the screaming part. It was yelling and grabbing me. I woke up in fear shaking half to death like I saw a ghost. I never want to experience that again.

If it does happen again, try forcing yourself to laugh at the demon. I've heard many anecdotes about this being a good technique for aborting scary dream experiences...I would imagine there's a fair chance it'd be useful in an SP situation as well. Might be worth a shot, at least.

Yeah sometimes I just don't have control when I'm in situations like these. Hopefully I'll sleep better tonight. Thanks for the tip. Makes me wish I had one of those romantic type dreams with girls again... Those pwn the experience ones I had. Man I miss those dreams XD

Half the time I get sexy dreams I wake up before I get to the good stuff.

If the opportunity ever arises to try that technique out, let us know how it went.
