Question Become Lucid without remembering how?

So this morning I had a pretty awesome LD that lasted what felt like a good 20 - 30 mins long. I did alot of things I wanted to do from my list of goals and even stabilized my dream after asking a DC if I was dreaming and having him tell me yes which caused everything to start fading to black and get all blurry. I tried rubbing my hands together and it only semi worked. I then tried to spin and it only worked a little and finally I spun around the other direction and shouted clarity and it worked perfect. It worked so well I even said Yes I'm back!

Anyways I knew It was a lucid for many reasons but I don't remember at all how the hell I became lucid. I can't remember if I did a reality check or if it came from another dream or if i just became lucid and knew I was dreaming for some reason.

My question is has anyone else had this happen before? Anyone else have lucid dreams where they just don't remember how the hell they became lucid lol? It only bothers me because i'm so curious what sparked it this time.

This happens to me all the time. I will either become lucid out of the blue, or be lucid from the start of a dream, or have no memory of how I got lucid. I think that when I don't remember how I got lucid, it may be because my recall of nonlucid dreams is sort of bad right now. So while I have a great memory of the lucid parts of a dream, the nonlucid parts are hard to remember.

It's also good to remember that some lucid dreams are totally spontaneous--that is, they happen at random without the dreamer purposely inducing them. Sometimes you just become lucid for no real reason. IMO, this mainly happens when you become aware on some level how dreams feel in comparison to real life. If you make an effort to be aware and mindful of your surroundings suring the day, this will carry over to dreams and you will be able to get lucid without needing reality checks and other induction techniques. (It takes a long time to master, though.)

Thanks for the response =). I've been working extremely hard on some new business projects and have been stressed out in a good way funny enough for the past couple of weeks. Last night I was so exhausted I told myself I deserve a break and i'm going to have a lucid dream tonight to have some fun. Could be pure coincidental but I honestly needed a good little break from my daily life and my LD seriously made my day today! If I could only will LD's more often =). This might sound stupid but I really feel like my subconscious was like dude chill the fuck out and relax already, heres a lucid dream for your hard work lol.

QFT. Most of my lucid dreams start with an abrupt realization that I'm dreaming. I don't do a reality check; I just realize that I'm dreaming because the dream-world is so much different than the waking one. I'm semi-lucid most of the time anyway (I realize that I'm dreaming, but I play along with the story that's in front of me, or I don't fully realize everything I can do in a dream).

Remember that reality checks are just one tool at your disposal when it comes to lucid dreaming, and they're especially useful for deliberately inducing a lucid dream. There's nothing strange about becoming lucid without going through a reality check first. (And if it is strange, it's also awesome.)

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.

Yes it's common, happens to me all the time. Just as mixism, I become lucid abruptly; in a few seconds it becomes evident that I'm dreaming. You could say that it's a dream sign induced DILD, but it's more like recognizing the feeling of being in a dream rather than some actual crazy dream sign that triggers lucidity.

I'm semi-lucid most of the time anyway (I realize that I'm dreaming, but I play along with the story that's in front of me, or I don't fully realize everything I can do in a dream).
As soon as you realize you're dreaming, start waking up your conceptual mind with gentle methods, such as focusing on your senses or doing simple math problems. This will help your dream control later on. Cheeers!
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.
