Thread: Strange Nightmare about a giant tornado?

I just recently had this dream and was hoping for some help explaining why this happened?

I woke up in some hotel with my mother, father and sister. Once we were all up and awake my mum turned the TV on to find to find the news reporter (a woman) in tears. For some reason (that was never explained during the dream) was the world had to lessen it's population by 2.5 million

Anyway, the way in which the world does this was very scary.. To me at least, from the sky an enormous tornado type thing emerges and practically sucks entire cities up. Now during this I kept seeing some island, winds very strong, the sea smashing into the rocks this was also never explained, why I was seeing this island.

I kept denying this ‘tornado’ was going to happen and it didn’t for a long time, this part of the dream was boring I was just chatting to my family – I’m not really sure why but I felt very uneasy during this ‘scene’. Anyway unsurprisingly my sister called out to us, pointing to the sky showing us that the tornado was emerging.

The four of us stood in a circle, holding hands saying our last goodbyes. Something here was strange too, for some reason I was given the choice to save up to three people so I obviously choose my mum, dad and sister at which point they left the dream. – I guess this may be because I love my family and hate seeing them in this sort of situation? This was the only part of the dream where i had some sort of control, very limited though as it then replaced my family with my girlfriend...

The door flew open and there was my girlfriend running to me, she had tears streaming down her face. I grabbed some sort of ‘quilt’ and wrapped it around us at which point she hugged me tightly and said “i love you.”... then the inevitable happened and we got sucked up into this thing the way it happened just seemed incredibly violent (i’m not going to go into much detail here) but there was no warning, people screaming and crying out, people being thrown around into things... But we were heading for the very centre of this thing and as we were getting to the top she said “please wake up” and i did.

I rarely have nightmares, but this was the first where people i care about are also involved and i just can’t seem to get it out of my head.
