I know because science is so crap, you know sitting here looking at your computer typing and really wanting the paranormal to be true.
Have you seen T.V. these days. Medium, Derek acorah, celebrity ghost hunter, most hauted, psychic T.V. chats e.t.c.
So if you haven't heard of psychic phenomena then I really(insert witty comment).

I agree.
consciousness is not 'paranormal'. nor are the spiritual aspects of the human consciousness have anything to do with the stuff you see on tv for ratings. science isn't the only thing that has advanced humanity so rapidly. spirituality, or consciousness is what has evolved us so rapidly. science can't tell us why something is morally wrong. yet today there are a lot of things in this modern world that we find completely unacceptable that were acceptable and even morally right not so long ago.
genocide and slavery for example. is is the raising shift of human consciousness that made us realize we need to stop these self destructive practices.
the raising of the human consciousness is essential to the western world, and even essential to our advancements in science. had we still have the consciousness we had in the stone age for example, with modern day technology we would all be bloody dead, because everyone would just go ape crazy and blow themselves up over food and sex.
We have opened pandoras box, scientifically speaking, and we will not survive into the next millennium if our consciousness does not evolve again, for similar reasons stone age consciousness would self destruct in our world.
the belief of 2012 is simple, evolve or self destruct. in this case, its our consciousness that must evolve. The choice is ours, but what's not a choice is the situation. And that is the belief in 2012, that the situation will be evolve your mind or self destruct.
the stakes are getting higher, especially with our technology, and if you believe in karma, most especially with our bearing karma on this earth. we must change, or raise or consciousness. And its not paranormal, we've done it before. We can do it again.
there are some 2012 confusions floating around on the net. this is not to be confused with the christian belief of the second coming or apocalypse. 2012 is not a belief in the end of the world, its just a belief in the end of a cycle and the beginning of a new cycle. both a cycle seen in the universe and in the human psyche.
the catch is every cycle is an advancement of the previous, shorter and more intense. thus every new cycle is faster, thus advancement becomes faster and faster. so in the belief of these cycles, this is why human evolution seems to happen in the blink of an eye compared to the evolution compared to other creatures. I mean, mosquitos have been here a lot longer and I don't see them building buildings. This is why, with every new cycle, the universe expands even faster. This is also why, in the belief of these cycles, so much human advancement has happened in the last thousand years, and even more in the last hundred. And even more in the last ten. Faster. Faster. Faster.
Cycles you can say are almost exponential. And the ultimate belief here is, the start of this cycle is, while a new beginning also marks the end of 'human' cycles - because by the end of this cycle we have either self destructed or have all become enlightened beings above and beyond the suffering we know today. This is not a 'magical' event. Or an event created by God. God is not going to brain wash us into enlightened beings. We must choose that state of being.
And since a new cycle means things happen faster, it also means our karmic pay back happens faster. And since we have a lot of bad baggage on the earth this can mean global disasters through nature. Thus, it is essential in the belief of 2012 that we start changing our ways, our consciousness now before nature gives us more karmic payback than we can handle.
2012 however does not mark an instantaneous event. Nothing amazing, or horrible might happen on that cold december. Its just another end of a cycle and start of a cycle day, and mankind has already survived a few.
Also, the christian second coming is related to 2012. In the second coming disaster strikes on end of the world levels, because the majority carried the mark of the devil, and then we have the few who carry the mark of christ on their foreheads. I don't take the more conventional or even literal spin of this. To me this means the mind of the antichrist *the mark of 666* is a lower state of mind that is self destructive, so self destructive it is the reason why man would be tossed into an end of the world scenario and not because of God.
And then the mark of christ on the foreheads is a symbol of the christ consciousness, which is a higher state of consciousness than that of a normal person. Thus the second coming of christ happens THROUGH those people and not Jesus coming down from the clouds. It is the state of consciousness that Jesus and Buddha had achieved that is the second coming. I repeat, the second coming is the christ consciousness in people and not a magical event in the sky by a God in the clouds.
The bibles depiction is, more or less grim, believing most people will be unwillingly to change, suffer and die. It doesn't have to be this way though. 2012'ers should all believe in a more positive view of humanity, that the majority of us will be willing to change and not self destruct.
