Thread: Religious/Spiritual Ecstasy, Speaking In Tounges, and Being Drunk In Spirit

From time to time I experience some great feelings. It's not spiritual ecstasy. It is just like a HUGE burst of energy. It happens with no apparent reason. Usually when I am relaxed. Music usually enhances it. It really feels like I intoxicated some drug. But it happens to me naturaly. Without taking anything. The feeling is truly wonderful. Amazing! One of the best things human being can experience.

Difference between what?

Between angelic energy and demonic, I suppose

Im not religious as at all, just highly spiritual, but in higher states of consciousness usually from meditation ( i would describe a demon or demonic energy as a person that just looks incredibly sad/depressed ). Nothing that can hurt you though


In higher states of consciousness when I feel the incredible peace and bliss..It makes me want to worship..worship the bliss, worship the feeling ( even thinking about the experience can bring a nostalgic tear ), and I see people talking in tongues on youtube and I really admire those that are fainting or passing out in a church service cause I know what their feeling.

I understand (though I'd use the word adore rather than worship). However, you should know from meditation that the bliss comes from bringing your awareness to your true self, the space. In those holy roller mega churches, people are simply induced into a state of gnosis. Their snake-skin attired pastors tell them its the power of Jesus, and it feels like it, and so the gullible believe it. It's benign, by itself, but carries with it a sense of personal proof of God and the Bible, which brings the trouble in. See, the ecstasy is always temporary, and sure you can ride the high for months after being "saved" but it will fade.

Psychedelics are sort of similar, you can get in touch directly with spirit and feel it, and draw some trippy conclusions about life. But your connection to spirit will fade and your conclusions will grow stale and meaningless. While my sober experiences have not taken me as powerfully into gnosis, the fact that I can find the same love, adoration and surrender sober indicates that I'll go much farther into spiritual ecstasy by leaving the drugs behind. I highly recommend psychedelics to anyone that wants to experience the more profound states of mind life has to offer. At least as an alternative to mass hypnosis.

So whats the problem?

I like to use the word worship. By the way my original question is about speaking in tongues coming from a state of gnosis.

Nice. That sounds about right. That feeling can get deeper i believe hence my question about speaking in tongues.

You seem more interested in simply experiencing the feeling rather than identifying with it, so for you there is likely not much problem. I prefer psychedelic telepathy without mumbling, personally. I have felt as profound a spiritual ecstasy (both with and without drugs) as any mumbler without uttering a peep and I've always found mega-churches ridiculous at best and downright satanic at worst. (Or perhaps that's an insult to Satan, dark lord be praised).

For me the feeling is surrender, release of control, followed by a flood of immense, body quaking joy that often makes me feel like a flower in bloom and a feeling of a loving, tender connection between me and the world. I prefer the word adoration because it keeps it transactional. After all, God worships us as much as we worship God. But choose your own words. I simply like the feeling of love without strings attached or definitions involved. Stick to the experience, labels are useless anyways. In fact gnosis is a state of mind beyond labels where one "knows" in the sense that a purely instinctively driven animal simply knows.

Well, a few days ago I had another AMAZING experience. What caused it? The girl I love. Or socializing. We just walked for an hour and a half and I got into a very gooood state of conciousness. Amazing state of conciousness. After she went to her house and while I was walking home I was feeling ecstasic. There is nothing to compare this feeling to. The best feeling in the world. I felt really high! Not alcohol like high but high that couldn't be compared to anything. I stayed in that state for as long as I could. Maybe an hour or so.
Oh. And the important thing is you can anchor these experiences with something. For example a song, a place. And while listening to the song or being in a specific place makes you feel almost the way you felt while having an amazing experience.

I once sensed the presence of a yellow angel hovering above me after eating some mushrooms. I was rolling on the floor laughing at the time.
Also, that which one might call my spiritual belief was formed because of them. However, my "spiritual belief" is tied in with my normal scientific belief. I don't believe that there is a difference here. I also don't believe in the concept known as belief anyway.
