Ezekiel 28 describes a fallen creature who once was righteous. He is not the only one though.

Those chains only last as long as those chained needs them too.

Before I make any further comments, what scriptural evidence makes you believe Satan was not an angel?

I doubt it will come down to that. I may have overlooked some scriptures, so I'm inquiring.

I don't know what the devil looks like but have always wondered why God didn't send the devil to Pluto or some other planet rather than earth. And then turn the devil loose in the garden of Eden. Makes no sense to me!! But then, what do I know?

Hi Awaken4e1! This helped me identify Satan as a once a holy and unblemished angel.

He allowed himself to be corrupted. Jesus states in John 8:44 (which you quoted) that Satan did not abode in the truth. The logical conclusion is that he once abided by the truth. In the beginning he became a murderer. That means there had to have been someone to murder. Adam and Eve were deceived by Satan, bringing sin into human existence and leading to death.

Gen 2:17 but you must not eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, for when you eat of it you will surely die."

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned

This is the common teaching which must sought out deeper, this breeds fear of satan in the people who believe that he was once the most beautiful angel, When he is the father of lies, (is) and always has been, (from the beginning) a murderer which means from his very creation... Ezl. 28 is speaking of anionted cherub (Man) which brought light (God's light) into the world.

He was pure in the goodness of God but he knew not evil, which was the purpose for the fall. The Word teaches us that satan transforms (himself) into an angel of light, but remember he is the father of lies,he is not, nor has he ever been an angel, he only makes people believe that he is...

But he wasn't created as a father of lies. His beginning was of an angel who freely chose to become an opposer to God. I agree with your assessment of his current status, but he wasn't always so per the scriptures.

Please look at the words from the beginning in the original text, it means from his very creation he was a murderer. He is what he always has been from the brginning. He is the waster to destory.

O' just a little side note Man is the only creation which has rebelled against God, satan has always had to ask God to do anything. Remember Job, and what satan said to God (I can't touch him you have a hedge around him)?

If man is the only creation which has rebelled against God, why are some angels sentenced to judgement?
2 Peter 2:4 For God did not spare even the angels when they sinned; he threw them into hell in gloomy caves and darkness until the judgment day.

It would help to know the menaing of the word 'Angel' which is 'a messenger' and there are good messengers and evil ones. In order for satan to have followers they would have had to have been exposed to evil, and the process of evil which is the fall of man, and evil men, are his messengers.

Mat 25:41 Then shall he say also to those on the left hand, Go ye from me, the cursed, to the fire, the age-during, that hath been prepared for the Devil and his messengers;
Their are those who have at God's right 'the righteous, and at his left the evil.

It is even explained in the following verses which are good messengers in conparison.

'I will have mercy on whom I will have mercy, and whom I will I hardeneth.'

Jon 2:8 Those observing lying vanities their own mercy forsake.
