Am i gonna go to hell

No where in the scriptures does it say reading another book is a sin. Now following its word and worshiping another deity other than Yahweh (G-d's true name) is a sin. That is the reason I am no long a Christian. I used to be a Christian, but for the past year I have been discovering the difference between truth and the "great delusion" Paul addressed in 2nd Thessalonian Chapter 2 Verse 11. The entire B-ble as well as most of the english language is filled with paganism, which is one thing that angers Yahweh the most. Oh and to clarify something with you, and this may be hard to believe, but I can prove it.

There is no hell, no lake of burning fire, no eternal torment. This is proven in one of the most well known verses of all time, but is simply overlooked. Read John 3:16 a couple times and tell me what you get from it. Those who believe in the Messiah, Yehoshua (J-sus Chr-st is NOT his name, but is derived from the greek language and is based off of their pagan gods, therefore I am not allowed to speak it from my lips either) will have eternal life, but those who do not will perish. How can one perish if he is burning eternally in "hell"? Hell was derived from the word Gehenna which was a burning pit in Israel. It was used in a parable that was misinterpreted back in the fire and brimstone days, which has been passed through generations because it is embedded within our minds as truth.

Oh and a quick mention, there is no Satan or Devil known as Lucifer. I can prove that also.

If anyone is interested I have plenty more information which fully disproves modern Christian beliefs. I am still a follower of Yahweh, I am just more personal with him, rather than calling him by such a universal, valueless word such as G-d.

Words are just words. You know 'bible just means 'books' right? Why wouldn't the 'great delusion' part of the bible also be pagan? I agree there is not lake of fire or anything like that but I believe there is most definatly a Hell and a Satan. Couldn't the word perish have ment being cast down to hell? And I truely belive that the Book of Mormon is the word of God.

I agree with 27 about the whole Hell issue... but doesn't everyone religious (or ex-religious) person here realize that there are at least 5 books that were cut out of the Old Testament, my personal favorite of them being The Book of Enoch?

I had some mormons visit my door when I was a student. They gave me a free book which I duly accepted - I will never turn down a free book folks ROFL It was raining so I decided to keep them talking on the door step for as long as I could, discussing life, the universe and everything, they were quite jovial until I entered into a discussion about the finer points of the Tarot and they were not best impressed - they never did come back

I had a little read but the main lead character a Mr Smith couldn't hold my attention, why not Luke Skywalker or something!

I was born a Christian but I'm no longer a believer, for my own reasons. Anyway I thought that the bible was the word of God, as interpreted by many prophets. The Old Testament is before Christ, and the New Testament is after Christ (or including him). Am I right so far? If not poke me in the eyes. So, if there wasn't a hell before, and now there is a hell, then that means that Jesus Christ caused hell? Because as far as I understand he is what separates the Old Testament from the New???

Yeah there are a whole lotta books left out of the Bible, Old Testament and New. The Council of Nicae sat and decided just which books would go in and which wouldn't, in order to unify the "Church". So why are those books less bibley than the others?

Riff, read the book. You won't go to hell. You'll just learn a little.

Or, you'll spend all eternity in a place of torment, suffering, and burning, along with murderers and rapists, because you read the book.... I don't think so!

I believe the lake of fire and stuff is metaphorical. Who says there wasn't a hell in the Old Testiment?

Ive decided it wasn't too big of a deal and im going to read it. First im going to finsih the bible though, then read it skeptically.

Why did all you athiest answer? If i wanted an opinion on sinning i dont believe atheist would know anything. haha but thanks anyways.

See, this thread COULD have ended here, with your conclusive decision, but instead, you decided to make a statement that atheists are basically bad people because they're atheists. Then again, I shouldn't be surprised, since that's verbatim what the bible says.

You do realize that most atheists were Xian before realizing the truth, right? Many were devout. Get your facts right before you insult people. And no, you're not going to hell because it doesn't exist and even if it did reading the Book of Mormon isn't a sin.

You should have been more clear on "atheists don't know anything about sinning"... do you mean to say that atheists don't know the difference between doing good things and doing bad things (i.e. sinning)? In this case, by "sinning", do you mean "doing bad bad things that bad people do", or do you mean sinning in the religious sense (e.g. being gay = "sinning")?

Thank you, Keeper! I really wish more christians saw it the way you do. I can't stand it when people talk about how their soul will burn in hell. While nobody knows what a soul is, or whether they exist at all, I can almost guarantee you that they're not made of methane. Your soul is not flammable!

Back in my catholic days, I would actually talk to my religion teacher after hours about random stuff, and one of the things I asked him was about his views on hell. The man was originally training to become a priest (but decided he wanted a family), so his opinion on the matter > most people's. I never said hell doesn't exist (in the christian mindset), just that if it does, it isn't what some people believe (i.e. place where your soul will buuurrrn, ooohhhhhhhhhh), but rather a state of limbo and solitude your soul is in. And you can get out of that state by accepting, and all that.
