My friend's uncle's gardener's dentist's daughter-in-law's fourth cousin twice removed's casual social friend's plumber once told me a spooky story, which conclusively proves that ghosts exist.

      Eat that, skeptics!

Oh, and you're an idiot if you're so gullible that you accept that kind of stuff as proof.

No offense taken but beware of my demons that just transfered to you. (Negative attracts negative in spiritual realm-exact opposite of our realm)

Does anyone have an opinion about Near Death Experiences? Why through different centuries, different cultures, and different religions do over 45% of people, who are resuscitated, have NDE and experience very similar things? source is from a medical journal called The Lancet.

I cared for one patient that murdered his uncle, returned to and then committed suicide by barbiturates. I don't mean that he was given Narcan and became "sober". The man was found down and had no pulse. He died. When he was extubated, he told me about visiting Hell. He was very visibly scared but not about going to prison or getting a death sentence. He was terrified about going back to Hell. He wasn't mentally incompetent and delusional.

Ah, that explains the whispering noises I heard in my ear the other day. I thought it was just a bad case of tinnus. You're delusional, by the way.

      wasn't mentally incompetent
Enough said. Though I do have to question what business you have caring for anyone based on those statements.

      Oh, and

      hal⋅lu⋅ci⋅na⋅tion
        /həˌlusəˈneɪʃən/ [huh-loo-suh-ney-shuhn]
      –noun
      1. a sensory experience of something that does not exist outside the mind, caused by various physical and mental disorders [or brain trauma or hypoxia], or by reaction to certain toxic substances, and usually manifested as visual or auditory images.
      2. the sensation caused by a hallucinatory condition or the object or scene visualized.
      3. a false notion, belief, or impression; illusion; delusion.

So if one person has a vision, it's dismissed as a dream? If another has a vision, it's dismissed as a hallucination? If a specific person has it, it's considered real, despite the huge similarities between all of them?

      Photolysis,

My comment about demonic transfer was combat sarcasm in response to your sarcasm.

Perhaps my post was unclear. This patient never had delusions or hallucinations. He murdered his uncle because he was angry at him. He committed suicide because he didn't want to go to prison.

This patient ONLY became worried about Hell after his NDE.

Murderers can be mentally competent. People that commit suicide can be mentally competent.

I never denounced Ahchoo's dream/vision and I apologize to Ahhchuu if he thought I did.

We do actually, it's called karma.

Nobody knows. Trick of the brain, a soul, some type of consciousness lifting in real time (then again you gotta know how consciousness works, or what it is...so, theory), perhaps something evolution gave us, it can be anything. Don't believe 1 thing, just keep wondering and asking questions.

Don't call me narrow-minded, but if we DO have souls, you can't sell it nor can you own someone elses. It would only change anything if you believed in it hard enough. Like a placebo.

We can't sell our souls because we are not the ones who own them.

Very interesting topic, but selling one's soul, I believe, the effects vary, depending on how you manifest it. It's all relative to what you believe, and what you expect/feel is going to happen.

For example, one who believes, and truly feels that they will sell their soul, it will happen to them, in their own mind, however they expect it to happen, because they are attracting those events.

One who believe, and feels that they won't successfully sell their soul, (consciously, or subconsciously), will not attract the same experience(s) as the previous person.

That's what I believe, it is all relative on how you act on the situation given. The THE LAW OF ATTRACTION is initially 'selling your soul'.

      **

In addition, I am a very religious person, yes, I believe in God, and the avisary, but I don't think in any religious way would God have made it humanly possible for one to sell his soul in the way It's been described. God loves us too much, and in retrospect, our souls are being sold and taken back everyday by our actions.

I believe we have agency, so God does not own our souls in this life. Maybe he does, but I don't think with agency he can. We act by ourselves, based on our choices.

I would think it meant selling your free will. Like you sell your "soul" and then your "owner" can decide he wants you to become a serial killer or whatever and you have no choice but to do it. And you'd have to continue doing whatever he wanted for all your next lives.

Let us take "soul" to be the I am presence; here if one tries to commit a transaction resulting in the loss of oneself, we are without solution lost in a paradox. What you need to realise is that selling the I will be as you lose it, overstand?

I read the entire thread but now as I look back I am on the verge of laughter...

Here's a question--is is possible to give a soul away? And under what circumstances? Can I torture a guy until I get him to agree to give me his soul? Would that count, or not? Why or why not? I've always been curious about what different spiritual/religious beliefs would say about it.

I believe it's not a totally literal thing. My take on it: If you were to own somebody's soul then you would elicit total devotion and total control over them without any remit.

It's not a forced control either; it would be that anything you say is right.

A good example of this would be 1984, at the end; but I am unsure if torture could really do this. The body might obey but the seeds of doubt would still be in the mind; and the soul would not be completely given over if this still remained.

I'm collecting them actually. I'm willing to trade my Lv. 68 Gyarados for an innocent soul, and my Lv. 50 Gengar for the soul of a virgin.

      Thanks guys.

Why wouldn't you sell your soul? What you benefit from keeping it? O.o
Jujutsu is the gentle art. It's the art where a small man is going to prove to you, no matter how strong you are, no matter how mad you get, that you're going to have to accept defeat. That's what jujutsu is.
