A militant Atheist is just as bad as a militant Theist, the only thing is that there is a higher percentage of good Atheists than Theists just because of the massive amounts of blind faith in religion. We should find other things to discuss. I liked the Jesus one.

I just want to point out the hypocrisy of the 'you have to believe the bible is the literal word of God' argument. It's just another example of atheists shaking their strawman and chanting 'This is a REAL Christian.' You claim to base your position on objectivity and reason, then refuse to consider evidence that doesn't fit your preconceived notions. You continually constrict the circle of discourse, then declare victory when you're the only ones left in it. A history lesson: Christianity did not come from the bible, the bible came from Christianity. Christianity is based on the life and teachings of Christ, of which the modern bible is the most accepted document. Theists are perfectly capable of practicing discernment in reading it, and should be encouraged to do so. Many choose not to, I know, and as I've said before, their error is not bad science, but bad religion. I'm as opposed to Christian institutions as any atheist, but I try to know what I'm talking about.
