Hey ps; heres the question again!

      You can't ignore it forever!

Alright so what makes the deities version of morality moral? Is it because he was first? So what if there is no god, wouldn't humans be first? So essentially if there is no god then our morals are just as reasonable to exist as a theistic moral right?

Lets put this in contrast. Say there is no deity, then all that's left is humans. If we create consciousness of some sort in another thing of our own design, lets say technological consciousness, would that mean that anything we tell them as morality is what is moral?

Psychology student, thank you for coming to this thread to say that you are not going to discuss the topic.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Theists believe that it is God's morality, thats why their version of "morality is moral".

Although, the criticism in Sandforms initial question only becomes active on the assumption that a God certainly does not exist ("So what if there is no god"). Is this certainty valid? Only if God has been proven not to exist which he has not.

No, because that morality would come from imperfect, non godly beings. Again, theists believe that God's morality, or theistic morality is "moral" because they believe that it becomes from God. Human morality over a technological consciousness does not seem to make an equivalent.

Why is God's morality the true morality? That is the question.

Theists would probably say that is where faith comes in.

I understand what their logic is now...its cause god is perfect!

But the problem is, perfect isn't real, because standards change.

and is there any justification for this faith?

Apparently every one's. I would like to know if you believe in a god or which religion you are before continuing.

      Guys, he's totally correct!

God's morals are correct because god's morals are correct!

Yeah, so why do you need to know my personal beliefs to proceed?

Because you asked "whose" standards. You may not believe in a actual religion god, and rather just the idea that a god exists. If a random god exists from no religion, then the standards are mute because he would not impart morals.

However since this thread is revolving around a god who imparts morals...

      "whose standards?"

      Though shalt not kill.

Its alright to kill when <insert the many reasons he says>

      Love thy neighbor.

      Hate they neighbor.

      Standards always change.

If you are a christian, then lets run into the standards that changed when Jesus showed up.

Meanwhile other religions have rules that were created by the religion (and thus says so) and not the gods...

I am perfect by my standards, which are all about how close somebody is to being like me. Therefore, don't eat Jello on Wednesdays.

Well, I gotta go to watch a Welsh guy kick another guys ass. Have a good day everybody, and most importantly don't let these theistic debates get in the way of positive human relations. Have a nice night.
