Do you reckon cats and dogs see us as gods...

Do you reckon cats and dogs see us as gods, because when i see a cat in my garden i love the feeling of, "I am superior" Or when i see ants i look at them and think i am the almighty.
So do you reckon cats and dogs and the like see us as gods? Or ants look up at us and run in fear muwahahaha....

To make this analogy work we would have to have experience of gods that we can see towering over us and which feed us and make us run away in fear also, surely?

I think they see us as 'giants' if they see us as any mythological being.

I don't think ants have the mental capacity to come up with concepts of 'god(s)', or even the concept of 'giants'. Dogs probably just recognize us as big motherfucking animals that sometimes give out doggytreats.

I mean. Elephants, those are GODS. Bow down to dombo!

But really, animals probably don't have the mental capacity to think up abstract stuff like god(s), afterlives, fairies, and the whole bunch.

Yeah, if anything, I'm pretty sure cats think of themselves as gods.

I think most cat owners would agree.

I disagree. My kitties worship me. They are the neediest, most ridiculously affectionate things on the planet. They go insane when I've been gone for a couple of days. They follow me around the house like zombies. My one cat comes running to make sure I'm ok if I make any kind of noise that indicates I'm hurt. It's crazy.

But no, they don't see me as a god. That's silly.

The typical cat, in my opinion, thinks of us as food-retreivers who also pet them if they act nice. The typical dog, in my opinion, either thinks of us as stupid humans who should get off their lawn or omgzors human fun has food has ball ballballballballball yay ooh whatys that goodbye human play later.

There's an ant mound in the form of me outside and I see ants giving praise to it every day.

      In a word: No.
      (To the OP)

"Gods" are human concepts. Unless we were able to communicate with the animals and give them a full run-down of what constitutes a "god," then they can't think of us as one. We are simply bigger animals and, in many cases, providers.

As far as ants are concerned, you may feel that you're "almighty" when you are around creatures that small, but they are hardly afraid of you. For all your size and strength, what's the first thing even a single ant will do if you set a foot down anywhere around it? It will come over and investigate. Even if you stomp or make a threatening gesture, it will deter for a moment and then come right back to investigate. This is not the behavior of a creature that is deathly afraid of the "almighty human."

I think that since dogs originally originated from wolves, they see you as a pack leader ^^

That's sensible. I constantly see pack heirarchy displayed by my pet cats, my mom being the alpha, Tia (cat raised by a chihuaha) often contesting me for head of Beta group, Gargamel (cat) the last beta, and Holly (human sister) the omega. So it would make sense that dogs, who are inherently social animals, would have their own labels for who is what.

By the way, for my last post, just imagine everything translated from ideas, since animals don't tend to use words.

Actually I think cats have a concept of ownership/territory blah blah..and they see us as rebellious pets...

We do everything for them, thus they must think they are in charge...we even scoop their poop. =P.

Well yes, the concepts of defining rules for what your dog can and can't do also revolves around the concept of being pack leader, you can for example as punishment bite your dog in the ear, which is one of many ways to show that you're in charge ^^ Also others like making the dog wait to eat until the family has eating also tells who's in charge (the order of who eats first and so on). And there's a lot more examples like this, so yeah, it all comes down to showing your dog who's the leader, works just like it would do in nature.

well cats certainly don't see us as Gods, they are superior really. Most cat owners will buy special cat food for their "pet", they will stroke it, let it sit on their knee etc. When they miaow for a while their "owner" will go and fuss them or give them food. Some people buy pretty damn expensive cat food, along with treats, toys etc. The owner does anything to make the cat happy, humans are the slaves of cats and have been since the cats invaded Egypt thousands of years ago. I know my cat thinks it's better then me but what ever he's cool.

In all seriousness cats and dogs don't have the mental capacity to think of us as creators of their Universe, they either think of us as fellow cats/dogs because they don't think about the physical differences( tame cats often stay kitten like in behavior all their life's, so maybe we are like parents to them which they don't grow out of because they don't need to) or they just think about us as other animals which make their life's easier so they hang around, this is more true for cats then dogs because dogs will actually think of you as a pack member were as cats just don't care much and take advantage of you. I mean if you left your cat and never came back, but another family moved in to take your place and stroked.fed them etc, they wouldn't even be that bothered, maybe for a week or so but they'd settle down again, we adopted our neighbors cat because she died, it had never really been in contact with us but was only acting scared for about 4 days then became fine.
