Russian Drill Nears 14-Million-Year-Old Antarctic Lake | Wired Science | Wired.com This is pretty awesome. In another article, I read that the lake is so far under ice that the only reason it's hot enough to remain as a liquid is because it's heated by the Earth's core, which is causing some scientists to wonder about how life on other planets - which might be outside of their star's 'habitable zone' - might have found other ways of gathering the energy needed to evolve. I'm really interested to see what kind of life (if any) they're able to find down there.
