Perseid Meteor Shower.
It's happening now but peaks on Aug 11th-12th. Best time to watch is before dawn. The moon should be set by then which will make excellent viewing conditions if you don't have a mess of man made light pollution to deal with. Could see 50-100 meteors/hour under ideal conditions.
I'm eager to see them. It has been a wonderful year for celestial phenomenon, with the eclipses, northern lights, and fireballs caught on camera. I I'm going to hit the hay early on the 11th and get up extra early on the 12th and take a meteor count if the clouds are kind this year.
P.S. I did see a few similar threads but they were from ages ago.
