The Oriadis: Making of a Sociopath

This is just a simple, evolving story I was writing in the World Record thread, and I decided I wanted a place where it'd be easier to find all the posts at once. Most of these posts will have all of 4 lines in them, thus is why I put it in SB. This is not for you to continue the story. It is for you to read along, making (if you want) comments every now and then. I'll be the only one writing the story. So those are the ground rules, feel free to read along with what I've already written.

I went to a nearby locksmith for help.

He told me how I could pick the lock.

I didn't believe what I found.

I pulled out the top drawer.

It was simply a plate of steel, as were all the rest.

The file cabinet was a facade.

At first I thought it'd all been for nothing.

Then I heard a low hum coming from the back of the cabinet.

I reached my hand into the dark box, expecting to feel cold metal, but hit only darkness.

I took a step into the open passage way behind the large cabinet.

I felt around and hit a switch.

I then walked the next mile or so down the sandstone passage way.

Eventually I came to a dome-shaped room made of dazzling white stones.

In the center was an altar.

There was a book on it.

The book was old and leather-bound.

It had illuminated lettering and some very bizarre illustrations.

I closed it to the front, and the title was: Immortality

I removed the book and left the through the corridor.

I took it home and read it.

It required 50 human sacrifices.

I couldn't believe it.

But it must be what the mayor wanted.

And I couldn't let that happen.

Hopefully he'd have no need to kill anyone else until he had the book.

But if he does, I'll have to tell the authorities.

Unless he gets to them first.

Mayor Slenick sat at his desk, patiently awaiting the news of Ma Risely's timely death. The reading of her Last Will and Testament was already scheduled for next week. Her doctor estimated she'd be dead by morning, and yet still not a word had made it to his desk. This was getting annoying. He grabbed a glass ball filled with sand and started tossing it in the air, then eventually he threw it out the window to the sound of breaks screeching.
