DISCLAIMER!! I'm seriously frustrated with holding my tongue back about animals just because DV has its panties in a bunch when it comes to the "cuteness" factor of animals. I can't voice my own fucking opinion on my dislike of anthropomorphism? Well I am. I'm all for equality and considering others feelings which is why this shit pisses me right the fuck off. (FYI, me saying things like "all white dogs.." just means that I'm speaking in general terms..) I still fucking hate it when they do shit like this on youtube (trying to give human characteristics to animals).. give me a fucking break.

The fucking dog is just acting like a fucking dog.. it doesn't sound like a human baby at all. So I'm wondering why animals (specifically dogs) are looked at in a human light and thought of as "oh that's so cute... it's almost human!"
It's the year 2011, we have plenty of species of animals that do their own fucking thing and we certainly weren't the first fucking animals (as homo-sapiens) on this planet so for the life of me I can't understand why we're so smug up our own asses to think that animals sound like us!!
There's a double standard if you look at things from the other perspective too, pets can't make their own natural sounds without some asshole saying they sound human enough to post a fucking video of it on youtube, or any website that makes them look like dimwitted tree hugging hippies. I know there are some going WTF? (Which brings up another issue.. do you really have to know what the fuck I'm talking about to know it makes sense?? NO! You don't have to be a complete retard to understand a retarded concept!)
Even when I look at other animals in the animal kingdom, you'll find moronic human beings saying "Hey that bird sounds like us!" or "Hey that cat mildly resembles dannon oneironaut!" My point is, just shut the fuck up about what looks/sounds like what. I like to think that all the animals in the animal kingdom have some influence on each other as a whole. Fuck pride in your species, we're all human, there's really no god damn need for this pretentious sense of entitlement to looks or sounds.
None of this was meant to slam white dogs. I could have just as easily picked on other animals. However, I thought this to be a more fitting and relevant topic, considering how it seems "that dog sounds/looks like us/me/pronoun" seems to be a very popular thing to say these days.
I apologize it ended up turning into a vent more than an actual debate. Though, I do wonder what your thoughts are on this.
I actually kind of agree, in general. The dog in that video did sound strange and I can imagine people hearing it as a human baby, but I don't like when people compare animals to humans in general. There's something about it that greatly disturbs me. To me, animals are cute on their own. If they look human-like I'm less likely to consider that they're cute. But some people seem to have the opposite opinion.
For example, this kitten looks kind of hideous to me:
But this one looks really damn cute!:
A lot of people seem to prefer the former type of kitten, and I have the feeling it's because they aren't seeing the kitten to have its own cat-like cuteness. They're really just looking for similarities to human babies, and the flatness of the first cat's face makes it look more like a human baby than the second. The flatness of its face just disturbs me.
I might be completely wrong. I'm only basing this on impressions I've gotten. I've never found human babies cute at all, so maybe that's the reason for my preference.

I couldn't agree with you more. The need for people to anthropomorphize everything is one of the most annoying and confounding things to me. I don't think it makes any animal cuter, it usually makes them less attractive to me. Natural pattern is much more beautiful than any man-made thing. This tendency extends to everything, even thinking trees as having human like personalities, or "mother nature" as actually having a temper and the want to appease her like she has a mind, that's why we shouldn't pollute the earth lol. What a lot of people don't realize is it's the complete other way around, human personalities and culture is a tiny product of nature, we're more like nature than it's like us... the whole tendency to see it the other way is so shamefully self-important to me. I think we should naturepomorphize humans more lol
I think giving Human characteristics to animals is something like Jungian ideas of projection. Seems to me that we do this to other humans as well. Perhaps to dream scenes and characters too?
I like comparing people to animals but not animals to people. Thats just insulting to animals.
If your neighbor has a dog tied up on a leash and it cries and whines who's fault is it? If I were the dog, I would not be happy about this. People do this to animals all the time.
