Because the Heath Ledger thread in The Lounge got locked right after some condescending words directed at me (out in the open, like this is) regarding my comment about how the death resulted from God's wrath against "the cowboy queers", I am going to respond here. Do you know how many people died yesterday? Right at 150,000. Was Heath Ledger's death more tragic than the other ones? No! Taking one stranger in all of that and acting like his death is so much more important than all of the other ones is not exactly honest. Of course it sucks that he died. Most of the million deaths that will have happened this week suck. But there is nothing wrong with my making a crack at nut case ideas sometimes used to explain deaths when I am speaking in a discussion about the celebrity stranger's death among the MILLION other ones that will have happened this week. Plus, more than anything, I was taking up for Ledger's role in Brokeback Mountain against the movie's silly opposition. Some people really need to lighten up.

Well, let's not take away a man's right to self-defense. Those bananas are asking for trouble, but Clint shouldn't underestimate them. I was thinking he had shot bananas before, but I got them mixed up with bandits.

Universal Mind, no where in my thread did I say that Ledger's death was more important than anyone else's.. nor is his death any less. And honestly.. no where in your post did you even give a hint that you were "taking up for Ledger's role in Brokeback Mountain against the movie's silly opposition". I decided to close the topic before it turned into a religious debate over whether GOD was killing people because they portrayed "cowboy queers" or were gay. I had already been through this with another poster and just didn't want this to go there and then end up locking it mid-debate.

You also have every right to create your own topic and make such comments if you wish.

But the other people are not in the public eye are they; it's insane to suggest everyone in the world when dying should get the airtime Ledger did.

He is a celebrity, and like all celebrities they are in the limelight and in the news for everything they do right up until their death.

Hell if were going this far then what about all the millions of people who adopt? Jolie and Madonna did it, got publicity for it because they are in the public eye - you don't ear about all the other thousands of people that do it. No matter what you say/think, people in the public eye, no matter what the reason for their death might be, will be in the news - had it have been for natural causes it would have still been reported on
