Yes, thinking about it. We are not likely to do it.

The problem with deleting any account is that all posts from the deleted member get reverted to 'guest'. It really damages the flow and organization of how things developed. If a member only has a few posts, as in the case of a banned spammer, then no big deal. But for anybody who has more than a few posts, deleting an account really makes a mess of things.

If he wants to be banned, he can just stop posting. It accomplishes the same thing.

I remember seeing one of those, the Asher impersonation account with the reverse character. You're right, it does look pretty bad.

Is there not a way to delete an account and along goes all the posts and threads they made also? Surely there must be some sort of way, i know its possible because i had a friend that ran a forum and i was an admin on it for him and we could delete accounts and it would remove all posts/threads. That was a while ago now.

Yes but that would make an even bigger mess of the chronology and consistency of the forum threads.

I guess the only time we care about accounts of inactive members is if we want a user name that has already been taken.

*cough* Adam *cough* I suppose your right Merlock, its just a shame there wasn't an easier way because there has to be thousands of accounts which are pretty much wasted, imagine the space that would free up if all the unused accounts were deleted.

There is a way, but why would you ever want to do this except in the case of a spam flood? Again, it would utterly disrupt the threads that the user posted in.

Each tool serves a purpose, but each must be applied appropriately unless you want a mess to clean up afterward.
