      An experience beyond dreaming

So; earlier today I was down at my local shop. There is nothing really out of the ordinary about this usually; but stay with me. So I went in the door and waved hello to the regulars. I needed to buy some milk. Milk usually cost somewhere in the region of 1.50 for 1.5 litres [a rip off if you ask me]. Anyway so I had to get "semi-skimmed" milk. The problem was that I wasn't sure which colour coded bottle top represented 'semi-skimmed'.

Now; the obvious solution would have been to look on the label. So I did; to my surprise the red milk was semi-skimmed. Feeling satisfied with this I picked up 3 bottles of red milk and took them to the counter where I paid the attendant 4.50.

Needless to say I was surprised when I got home and realised 2 of my bottles were in fact whole milk. Some joker had obviously replaced the caps with red ones, fooling me.

Anyone else had an experience like this?

I have not, though I'd like to tell you of a similar experience I had in the realms beyond dreaming. I was at the dentist, and they told me I needed to have a cavity filled. The procedure went flawlessly, but when I went to pay, the dentist REJECTED my insurance. I had to pay for the dentistry myself. It was surreal.

I always have trouble telling whether my mayonnaise is low-fat, or regular! I mean, they always write it on the side which is facing away from the aisle, so you have to go and turn every bottle around until you can read it. And then the font is tiny, so sometimes I have to bring my reading glasses along just in case.

My friend Maddie recommends that I use contacts, but I'm not really sure that I'm ready for that sort of commitment.

That's really interesting; here you tend to be able to tell by the colouring on the packet. For example light mayonnaise, or as they spell it, being the cool advertising execs they are "lite" mayonnaise is a pale shade of blue.

In contrast; Regular mayonnaise is a darker blue, warning us weight-conscious chaps away.

I used to go solely by the saturation of the mayonnaise labels, but I've learned not to the hard way. See, this one time I went to the store, it was a busy Monday afternoon and I had just finished mowing my lawn so all I wanted was to get some supplies for dinner and get out of there, you know how it is. I grabbed a light-colored mayonnaise jar as I went past that aisle and was on my way, I figured it must be a low-fat variety, being a pale easter-blue. I was of course shocked, very shocked, when I made it back home to discover that it wasn't! It turns out that there were two or three different brands of mayonnaise available, and this particular brand's 'non-low-fat' coloring happened to be lighter than that of the other brands. I can't imagine what their low-fat packaging looks like, I expect it must be quite nearly white. Anyways, ever since I've never been able to bring myself to trust my instinct with such things. I'd hate to undo all of the work I've been doing around my hips just because I didn't check the mayonnaise labels properly.

You should have gave him 5 bucks.

ps- you're not funny making an off topic thread here because you think this forum/subject is meaningless. Do the forum a favor and stay out.

Seconded. Moving this to senseless. I have no patience for this blatant disrespect.

Carousoul, you've already been warned for spamming/trolling. It's time for a vacation?

This was mostly my idea, I should probably take the blame.

Carou and I were in DV Chat and I said "It's funny, you would think the "Beyond Dreaming" forum would be about something in everyday life, like buying milk or something...". Carou was so amused that he made this thread.

If the humor of the idea isn't appreciated, feel free to put the blame on me. I don't really see how it's disrespectful, though, it's more of a pun based on the forum's name than any sort of attack on the forum's frequenters.

I think I should take the blame, from taking an amusing idea and putting it into practice without thinking about the consequences, I guess.

Also, I'll be away for around 2 weeks soon, Nina, If that's what you so want.

I don't find it amusing cleaning up after people who should definitely know better.

This thread is full of drama. I think it was quite funny. But Nina did the right thing by moving it to Senseless.
You do this every fucking time.
      No sweat.

      Agreed.

Funny though it is, the fact that we're talking about it preserved the joke. And the fact that it was moved doesn't piss the OBE'ers off.

      Everyone wins.
I am posting on topic elsewhere for the most part.

My DJ here at DVs, Realized Aspiration only contains old dreams. I'll be around for the occasional chat, and some unfinished/unstarted RPs.

And you, yeah you, with the ice cream hands. You, yeah you, are my friend. ~ Still my mentor, and an awesome guy.

I once bought a shampoo that was only half in shampoo.

I was so amazed at that; I mean, all the time we hear of people who suffer from these misfortunes, but experiencing it myself... kinda opened my eyes. Now I'm a humble believer.

And @ all the skeptics in this thread: open up your minds. If it's on the internet, it must be right. I can show you a video of me getting a halved shampoo. In fact, I can even show you a video of me getting halved shampoo with my hands tied back. i know some people would still say this doesn't serve as proof, but I know I can do it, and that's what counts.

      ps: the lulz
