Please, geniality has nothing to do with being intelligent.

For me, you're a genius if you're intelligent, understand things other people don't and can get down to the level of others and be able to explain (without feeling better than the rest).

Hence, it's not for me to say if I'm a genius or not, that's for others to decide.

I had an IQ of 135 when I was in Jr. High. Since then I'm not sure what my intelligence is anymore...I should ask the guy who did my test a few months ago.

I'm pretty sure I'm lower now though hehe, I got bored of life and stopped learning for fun, and only did the bare minimum which was required of me when I started my freshmen year so there you go.

      Sandform! The self-proclaimed Jeenneee us.

To be quite honest though I'm socially retarded. I can't stand people, and I just don't understand them that much. I comprehend their actions...and what their reasoning is behind them, but I don't adhere to the same reasoning so I have cry a little bit inside when I talk to people.

You can't be a genius without studying though. You have to learn, apprehension means nothing without that which you have apprehended.

In order to be a genius you have to have 144 IQ or more.

There are many different kinds of geniuses.

There are great composers and artists and authors all of which are considered geniuses, (and rightly so) but none of them had an IQ over 144 did they?

I think, to be a genius you have to be one of the very best in the world in your field. The standard should be high.

How do you know they did have a high IQ? IQ isn't dependant on knowledge...its dependant on ability. I can't explain it in full because I don't know how, but its basically reasoning and mental capacity skills.

I wouldn't consider composers to be genius, I would consider them to be savant. Or I might even call them unique or different.

      Oh btw,

Hey! I'm a composer, and I never objected to being called a genius before.

      IQ is your Intelligent quotient.

Thus the older you get the more it evens out.

It was created to determine the mental ability of children when they became adults, and to single out gifted ones, if I'm not mistaken...

When it comes to IQ I'm around 135...

I don't have this feeling of being above others though...I actually don't much like being considered above others *shrugs*

Then again not being 144 IQ I guess by that standard I'm not quite a genius anyway lol

I can certainly say that I do not understand others. In turn I am not usually understood. My perception of things are very different. I do not believe it is because of intellect, maybe the opposite.
It has brought me to question my own sanity. I would wish that on know one. It is a very lonely and scary place.

A comparison that has come to mind for some reason.
People who claim they are a prodigy, a genius are a lot like people who brag of their war stories.
Most people that brag of true war experiences have likely not seen the war that the ones who do not boast about it have seen. In similarity, a true genius does not connect. likely either not caring or not even realizing.

I agree with Howie. The odds are if you call yourself a genius your not.

For example, minds like steven hawking probably know that they are smart (in the subjects they study) but I doubt they are arrogant enough to call themselves genius.

I called my self a genius earlier but that was in jest =P

Um... Why would it be arrogant for a genius to acknowledge that he's a genius?

Cause there isn't really such a thing as a genius. Yeah, so your smart in one field, but its only the fields your smart in.

Because in the backward society of humanity people must be humble and ignore what is.

Haven't you ever heard of religion?

      I agree.

But at that rate wouldn't an intelligent person also be able to quickly learn all about other subjects?

The problem is that if you can be made to look like a fool you can't be called a genius.

      Atleast thats what I think.

If you only asked people questions they knew, then everyone would be a genius...

No... I just think highly intelligent people are highly intelligent. The particularly highly intelligent are the ones I call geniuses. What they're ignorant to is of no consequence.

Everyone is highly intelligent in something, though it may not be a subject you consider advanced.

Like I said, if you only asked questions people knew the answers to then we would all be genius.

Any genius would happily admit what he does and does not know so I do not think they could be made to look a fool.

And if they were that hardly etracts from their intelligence.

Er... You're confusing intelligent and knowledgeable.

If a kid's parent forces information on him to the point where he is an "expert" on it-- is he intelligent? Not necessarily. Just knowedgable.

Intelligence is your thinking skills and pace at which you learn.

I bet you wouldn't call an uneducated intelligent person a genius.

But this is stupid anyway. This is only my opinion on a subject that is purely whatever you decide your outlook is. I see it a different way than you do, its no big deal.

I don't think there is a right answer, just the answer someone agrees with.
