Sometimes people just don't have anyone tell them..as in anyone complain, so to say. So it's acceptable for them. Maybe someone just needs to tell 'em.

I've had people on StarCraft (battle.net) ask me that. I mean, I know I was playing a game that has a lot of retards on it, but still... Some guy called me stupid and said that it's quicker to just abbreviate (and I did use in-game abbreviations), but spelling out "you" didn't take away any crucial seconds I could have been using. Yeah, I'm the stupid one.

I had a friend who always said "wht." Not even "wut." Of all the letters to take out, why the vowel?
Will one more letter, one extra keystroke cause instant death?
I hate sitting next to people when they type. Makes me want to take the keyboard and type for them.

I really wonder how these people survive school. How do they talk? They never use punctuation, so do they ever take a breath while speaking?

Well, in a game like StarCraft in which time is key, I would say it's a good strategy. Save time typing and make others take longer to interpret it. XD

I suppose that's where it would have any application. But on forums and messenger programs? Get your grammar on!

Haha, yeah. The thing is, we were playing some UMS in which time really didn't matter much. They type things like "rht cornr hlp" and add in a thousand exclamation points.

Forum grammar is still far more atrocious than any MMO I've seen.
(I'm just glad the people here type legibly. )

Oh, and when it comes to ommiting vowels, it actually somewhat makes sense.

T dmnstrt m pnt, y cn prbbly ths sntnc

In fact, the arabic language doesn't represent vowels as letters, but as symbols on the letters which are usually ommitted in any arabic text above the elementary school reading level.

Yeah. I wonder that too. I wonder if they fail their English exams, or if this sort of typing carries into their essays and crap. Makes sense... if you type a certain way in a place where you spend most of your time (the internet), the habit is bound to carry into the "real world."

I think you missed the word "read." That little bit confused me for a long time before I could understand that sentence. That's one of the downsides of typing without vowels... if you make a mistake and miss a word, it makes everything way more difficult. Also, even if vowels truly aren't needed, I think that learning to type quickly without them would take a lot of time and practice... and for what? All that will come of it in the end is people only understanding you on Starcraft and nowhere else.
