      UK Blocking Wikipedia Article

      So yeah, this album which was released in 1976 had a naked, underage girl on the cover.

      30 years later, some internet providers in the UK decides to block the entire article. (not just the picture)

      And now they have taken it back again.
      T'was fun seeing the rage.


      I think it would be improper to link the article though...


      I'd like to see Dreamviews discuss this! Much more fun with all the different people, instead of just gamer nerds and pedophiles.

      So they want to block an article (words and all) that has one little picture on it, but are they also going to block every child porn site out there? If somebody is looking at that article, I doubt it's to look at the picture. Going to Wiki for your porn? Really?

      but for future reference,
      all you have to do is change your DNS server

      Your ISP provides it's own DNS servers, but you are under no obligation to use them

      governments can only "censor" your view of the internet if they control your DNS server

      Use a different DNS server
      specifically, use OpenDNS, available on the following round-robin IP's:

      * 208.67.222.222
      * 208.67.220.220
      * 208.67.222.220
      * 208.67.220.222


      you cannot censor the internet
      it's a communications medium designed to survive nuclear war, enemy sabotage, inside moles, etc. etc.

      Well aye, everyone can edit the pages, so they could just.. Remove the picture, if it was a problem.


      The other thing people were angered by, was the fact that for the English users that got the page blocked, also for some reason couldn't edit anything on Wikipedia like other people.

      Besides, even if they did block the picture, it would still be no problem at all for anyone to find an unblocked version of it >.>
