Getting Fired for Goofing off at Work

You never think it will happen to you but everybody does it. Everybody wastes time and goofs off at work and it could ultimately lead to your untimely change of career. The average worker wastes over 2 hours a day surfing the Internet, chatting with co-workers and running personal errands. Is this News.Com Article it becomes quickly apparent that workers are spending too much time at work with nothing to do.

Perhaps it is time to implement shorter work weeks with less hours per day at work. Obviously workers have too much time at work to waste. The real reason may come down to "face time" where workers need to be present in case there is a problem or a manager needs something. This tends to be the real reason for the hours spent at work. However it seems like technology could easily solve these problems if we could get past the social barriers that still require "face time".

I dunno where you found that article, but it's just about the biggest piece of shit I've ever read. Firstly, it is the company's job to make sure you have enough shit to work on throughout the eight (or more) hour day you're forced to sit through. If your superiors can't find enough for you to do, you're pretty much entitled to dick around until you can get something else to do.

Second, slashing employees' hours - or even firing them, for that matter -simply for spending a few extra minutes for themselves (the break and lunch times they give you are always a fucking joke) is nothing short of cruel. Not unusual, unfortunately, but quite cruel. Do you know how financially painful it is to have hours cut? Let me put it this way: My stepdad, who recently got fired, had had his hours pretty severely cut by his dickhead boss. (Which was very inappropriate, considering my stepdad had plenty to do while at work, and always managed to do it all.) His pay was somewhere around $26/hr. Mine, on the other hand, is $10/hr, and I work full-time. Frankly, I was bringing in more per week than my stepdad up until the point that he got fired. Now that's pretty fucking sad.

Therefore, the writer of that article is a dipshit that knows nothing of financial stress, and I question your own knowledge of financial issues by the fact that you bothered to post it up.

P.S.: I'm writing this message at work. Why? Because my boss couldn't plan ahead, and now I've barely got shit to do.
