      Insomnia. Probably caused by summer.

Ok well like over the summer like all high schoolers my sleeping pattern has been really off and stuff. (You know one night having nothing to do and just going to sleep, one night being bored staying up tell 4, one night hanging out with friends and partying for like 36 hours) basically now that schools coming up I've noticed that like I've been having some pretty bad insomnia. Like first off I've been staying up way too late (Like right now lol it's 4:00am) because it's been almost a CHORE just to TRY to go to sleep. Like it takes SO long for me to get to sleep (which is so boring and frustrating) which results in me sleeping from 11 to 13 or even 14 hours at a time when I DO sleep. Basically I was wondering if any of you guys got any solutions for it that would help me.

Also if I wanted the same answer as the first result on google I wouldn't have came to this forum after not being here for months. So non of the obvious "Get in a regular sleep pattern, don't use electronics like TV or computers right before going to bed, sleep in a cool environment. I want some different answers I mean like how do I get back in a good sleeping pattern (with school starting in just 1 1/2 weeks) you know some maybe personal techniques you guys use.

Also also, of course once school does start my sleeping pattern should go back basically completely normal so it's not like this is a dire hugely chronic "Since I was 5 years old" type of thing. Just throw some suggestions at me cause I wanna try some out so I can actually get to sleep before school starts and I want to actually be awake more than 12 hours of my day for a while so I can actually enjoy the rest of my summer vacation more.

      -Thanks

i have heard taking a bath can help getting to sleep quicker, also don't toss and turn, try repeating a phrase over and over in your head - it makes you tired, once you go to bed don't get back out until you have gotten some sleep or you need to go to the bathroom, listing to music in bed can reduce boredom
all this from personal experience, hope it helps

      Thanks I'll try that.

Also also also, when it comes to waking up in the morning I used to do it with my ipod dock alarm clock thing (woah that rymed) so I would wake up to music and stuff but the remote is messed up and I needed that to set it and stuff so instead at the moment I use my cellphone. I put it all the way across the room, and in the morning I still end up shutting it off and going straight to bed. I've even tried to counter that by putting another alarm to go off 5 minutes after that with an even more annoying ring tone but instead I just end up shutting the first one off then keeping my cellphone next to me to imidiently shut off the second one. UGH any one have any suggestions on getting myself to wake up in the morning either? All I have it set to during the summer is 10:30 for the purpose of not letting myself sleep in tell 2-4 pm but it doesn't work. It takes to much will power >.< and half the time it's as if I didn't have any say to whether I shut off my alarm and go back to bed or not.

as for waking up earlier, go to bed earlier
as for the alarm problem, the only thing i can think of is do not drink any liquid near bed time- in the morning you will have to get up to get a drink due to a dry mouth

Thanks much, now that you mention it I think the only reason I HAVE ever gotten up cause of the alarm clock was because of a dry mouth and being thirsty lol. But either way I'm most concerned with the first problem anyways.

Why don't you try any WILD techniques? There is also a thread about a breath technique, but i can't post link because i am a new member (duh...). The thread's title is: 99 Breaths to Relief a Wandering Mind. Search it or someone find it and post the link. Hope it helps.

You could always skip a night and go to bed early. YMMV.

I pick up a half-eaten copy of a book by Neil Gaiman, and decide this is all his fault.
