      Ran for my life... Why?

This morning... I'm not really sure what the hell happened, but I had a sudden urge to run for my life. I fell out of bed, opened my window, tore a hole in my fly-screen, jumped out and started running down the driveway. I was totally scared out of my wits. When I finally realized what I was doing, I felt as if I was going to pass out. I sat down for a minute and headed back inside. I went back into bed and rested for a bit. I woke up and thought I had dreamt the whole thing, but the hole in my fly-screen suggests otherwise.

This has NEVER happened to me before. I don't have a history of sleep walking or anything like that. I get SP a lot but that's about it. Is there anything sleep related that would explain what I just did? Fuck, is there something wrong with me? Should I seek help?

If you're bed room on the second floor? If so, I suggest sleeping downstairs until you resolve yourself. As for why...

Do you do irrational and crazy things in your lucids/dreams?

      Buzzy.

For now, and this is a plus in my eyes, you have a peculiar story to tell about why there is a hole in your flyscreen but if it, or something similar, happened again I'd be very worried.

Not from what I remember. The only crazy shit I ever see is in nightmares.

Well no doubt I was having a night terror before I woke up. Perhaps it just carried out into the waking world somehow.

What do you mean by 'buzzy'? And I don't see it as a plus, it is a bit embarrassing, running out into the street like that in my PJs. :-s

Oh buzzy is lingo- it means odd. Yeah, I don't hear it used much either, except by me of course.

Dude that's epic! And the best stories usually have a certain degree of embarrassment associated with them ;] If it doesn't end up being something serious I'd say eventually you'll see this for what it's worth- a buzzy story.

If you were asleep the whole time, you might have just been sleepwalking. Somnambulance isn't particulary harmful.

However, it seems as if you were awake when this happened? Maybe you just weren't fully alert. Usually it takes a bit of time to gain complete mental clarity, so perhaps you had physically awoken but still had the mentality from your dream, probably one in which you were being chased.

If it doesn't happen again, I'd just forget about it. Hopefully it isn't a recurring problem and it's just a one-time thing.

      What is that?

I'm betting it is just a one-time thing, hasn't happened again.

Somnambulance is walking in your sleep - usually you don't even know it happened.

I'm glad to hear it hasn't happened again!

I wonder how that happens, considering you are supposed to be paralyzed?

Hi dear member, I suggest you that you should consult to a professional and take a complete check up. For that to save you in future from any incidence in sleep walking.

Are you on any kind of medication that would cause this?

Have you ever gone to bed in one position, but woke up in another? I would assume that SP comes and goes as it would explain sleepwalking/ talking

I suggest you don't ever sleep naked.

Seriously though, that's pretty wild. I've never had anything like that happen. I sleep walked a couple times in my life though. As a kid I woke up on the couch in the living room a couple times, with no memory of getting out of bed. During my drinking days I sleep walked to the toilet a couple times when I was too passed out to wake up to piss. felt pretty weird when I did wake up standing over the toilet pissing. At least I made it to the right place! One time it happened a friend was over. My friend told me I walked into the wall a couple of times before turning and going in the right direction. I must have been like a zombie ha ha.

That rolling over is when you wake up for a split second, I'd imagine.

I'm not sure. SP is so you don't act out actions in a dream... so I've read

Perhaps you're in light sleep, but unconcious still?

      That sounds more likely.

It sounds like a panic attack to me.

A panic attack occurs when all of a sudden your body thinks you're in a dangerous situation, and your adrenal glands release incredibly large amounts of adrenaline and noradrenaline, two hormones that your body uses to stimulate in actual dangerous situations in case you need to run, fight, etc.

The thing is, when there isn't any danger, you react by thinking you're going to die, are in serious danger, and become very scared.

Although terrifying when it happens, it isn't overly dangerous, and there are lots of different treatment options including counseling, medication, etc.

Definitely go to your doctor though.
