      Memory in the morning

I honestly can not remember what tone my alarm is set to, even though it wakes me up everyday. It seems the first 10 minutes or so of my day are very difficult to remember for me, peaking at waking. Is this the same thing that keeps me from remembering my dreams, spilling over into waking? Does anyone else experience this?

Yea it is usually when my alarm or any outside factor wakes me that i won't recall a thing. I think it might be because we are jolted into waking state. And did not naturally phase from dreaming to waking state.

I've noticed that i remembered practically everything when i wake up naturally. But on the other hand, sometimes i only come into phase when i catch myself subconsciously thinking about waking memories, people i know. issues i have etc.
I sometimes "wake up" where i find myself deep in thought. Even tho i never consiously thought these things myself. I'm really quite puzzled about this.

I agree with Dthoughts. It's most likely because you're pulled out from your sleep cycle before it completes, leaving you disoriented for a bit.

May I ask then, if you are jolted out of your sleep cycle would it be good to count the amount of hours you sleep naturally and then start thinking about setting the time and the time you are suppose to go to bed?

Yea, ofcourse. It helps to write down as many variables as you can. i.e. time you go to bed, time you wake up. Even when you had ur last dinner. What food you ate etc. I think vitamins play a major role in dream cycles and recall.

Also, i don't think it's the jolting awake part that causes the most issues in recalling dreams. It's more so, that when someone wakes me up for example i'm inclined to reply and i don't have time to gradually remember the dreams I just had. Same thing for an alarm clock. You have to turn it off. -,-
Maybe it helps to get a more subtle alarm clock that doesn't require you to turn it off by hand.

btw, i used to not remember turning off my alarm clock everyday for months. i missed dozens of schooldays because of it. I also went to bed really late and woke up really early.

I had the exact same problem until i edited a song to only include the first 10 seconds and use it as my alarm clock. Of course you can only do this if you have a smartphone to wake you up. I can send the song to you if you want.

Sure, if it's a good song? Great idea tho.. I'm gonna check if my phone can do that aswell. I got a dozen of songs i woulden't mind waking up to.

I didn't actually edit the song with my phone. I used Sony Vegas Pro on my computer. Here is the song: Nujabes - Luv Sic pt. 2 and here is the edited version: zSHARE - Luv Sic _Morgen_.mp3

      Hi Dave,
Do set specific tone for alarm so you will know it's time to get up.
Use almonds, blueberries and dark chocolate more as they will make your brain sharper.

      Cool

Hey, my girlfriend always complains about me talking her leg off every time I wake up. I have no memory of this... luckily she thinks I'm funny.
