      Sleep Paralysis Question

Hi all, still quite new here so unsure if this is in the right section!

Basically, I've become really interested in sleep paralysis. It's a fairly morbid curiosity since from the sounds of it it's unpleasant to say the least, but I like reading about it and find it fascinating.

However, I have only experienced it once, as a child (I didn't know what it was then obviously and even then it was fairly mild) and I really don't want to experience it! My question is - do you think excessive reading about sleep paralysis can cause sleep paralysis or make it more likely. This is working on the logic that your brain processes things you are preoccupied with when you're asleep, and so might be predisposed to it.

      Thanks for any help

..sleep paralysis happens every single night, you're just not aware of it. Your mind usually goes to sleep before your body, so by the time your body goes into SP, you're already unconscious. The only way to fully experience it, is to intentionally keep your mind awake while your body is falling asleep, as happens in a WILD (Wake Induced Lucid Dream). So however much you think about it; it's going to happen anyway. Whether you're going to be conscious to experience it, is up to you

Don't worry, I'm afraid of SP too

SP can be a very relaxing experience! It's usually only a problem when you experience it when unfamiliar with what it is and what it means (and it seems you're already clued up, OP) in which case it can be a frightening experience. But when armed with knowledge of what it is you can turn sleep paralysis into a lucid dream (as with a WILD). When sleep paralysis can be frightening is when it is caused by some parasomnic disorders or if you just randomly wake up into it, but then I woke up into it randomly last night and turned it into a lucid dream. So as you can see it can be a positive or negative thing to be conscious in SP.

The first SP experience I had was horrific and scary. Now that I know what it is it is not a problem at all. I just had my second case of SP last night. I felt the vibrations and the demonic presence and just told the demon to show itself and basically I was going to kick its ass and I was ready for it. The demon was suddenly my bitch lol. I was able to relax and keep myself in a state of SP. It was actually quite enjoyable. The first time is a powerful and scary experience, but IMO after that once you are used to it, it can be amazing. I actually would be thrilled to experience it again tonight and hopefully I can make myself.
