      Question Cpap

      Hi folks!

Ivor here. I'm fairly new to all this, but well-versed in books and such. One thing I've not come across, is LD (and OOBE) occurring in relation to a CPAP.

I have sleep apnea. My case is fairly severe. If I go without my machine for even one night, I wake up exhausted, stuffy, bleeding from my sinuses and throat, and extremely sore. However, WITH my machine, I have extreme difficulty remembering any of my dreams. I have had two LDs so far. One with and one without my machine. My first one was without. I had taken a nap, and it just....happened. My second was with my machine, and it happened nearer to awakening the next morning. Both seemed random in nature.

What is the consensus regarding a CPAP? Since I cannot get any real restful sleep without it, I must wear it. Should I abandon this dream [], or is there a modification of an existing technique that will work with my machine? Or do I even need to worry about modifying a technique?

It should make absolutely no difference, I think you will have a harder time trying to lucid dreaming if you've got sleep apnea because the better the quality of sleep the more likely you are to lucid dream. The device can also function to keep you more aware during your dreams, it has often been noted that people have lucid dreams when they wear something like clothes or an armband when going to bed because there body is less comfortable.
I don't think you should worry about your machine, I can't see it damaging your ability to DILD, I wouldn't know the effect on WILD but they both work equally well so that doesn't matter.

I quit dreaming for years until I got my Cpap and now Bipap machine. Now my brain is getting oxygen and I am starting to remember my dreams again. My case is severe as well. I have heart failure because of it. Didn't know it was possible until the doctors told me what was wrong and why. Do not abandon your cpap - you could die - it's that simple

      Hey Ivor,
Cpap will not interfere with lucid dreaming it can only help you. Try to get in the habit of wearing it for naps also.
