Hello, I find it impossible to get to sleep before 12am! I go to bed at like 8pm and will not fall asleep until 11 or 12. But when I go to bed at 12 I fall asleep straight away? I need to sleep more because I feel so tired during the day, help please?

3 tips that make a heap load of difference

1)Exercise in the day
2)Dont eat straight before sleep
3)Dont stimulate your mind to much before sleep, e.g dont go on the pc right before you go to sleep

hope this helps bud.

I get up around 6-7am to go to school. Thanks for the tips I will try them out, because I do those thing quite often lol, I normally eat right before I go to sleep, and will watch TV or go on the computer to try and relax myself before going to sleep. But I do normally exercise during the day.

If you're going to bed at 8 PM and just reading, watching TV, etc. as you lie there until midnight, that could be part of the problem. When you do that, you associate your bed with activities other than sleeping. It's another place to lounge around, like the couch or a favorite chair. In the ideal world, you'd go to bed, maybe read a few minutes, turn off the light, and fall sleep.

So, I'd suggest that you sit in a chair to read or whatever until you actually get sleepy and then go lie down in bed. Try to go to bed just a few minutes earlier every day until you can go to bed and fall asleep at a time that's going to give you enough rest. The idea is slowy to get you used to going to bed earlier.

What kind of stuff are you watching/reading? Gez' had good advice about not overstimulating your brain, especially with the computer. Nothing heavy, over emotional, or stressful before bed. Think bland...The Science Channel does it for me lol

A light snack like milk with some saltines and cheese is fine before bed. But don't eat a heavy meal. A warm bath before bed helps a lot of people.

Good luck!

Get up early one morning, at 3-4 AM. This will make you able going to bed earlier that night, making you able to change your sleeping schedule.

Also, I would not recommend drinking anything before bedtime. For me it results in having to go the toilet to empty the bladder, making it difficult to relax.

Well I tried doing super exercise during the day (5 hours of surfing), that didn't help at all, it still took me 2 and a half hours to get to sleep, I fell asleep around 12.30. So I have been reading a lucid dreaming book for an hour or so before I go to sleep, I got to sleep at 10.30, but it still took me 1 and a half hours to get to seep, but it is an improvement, as I got to sleep before I midnght.

This works for me after getting only 5-6hours (I can now do if without lack of sleep the night before) of sleep in one night go to bed several hours early, when you go to bed turn off all the lights make sure it's quite maybe a fan or something thats all, then just close your eyes and think passivly, let your thoughts flow like wind, don't think to hard about anything, I actualy had it in mind that if I can't go to sleep i would certainly like to see if I can stay conscous all night and wild all night long, for some reason if your not worried about how long it takes, it helps alot.

I'd think that your body probably isn't adjusted to it, try going to sleep a couple of nights at that new time and it should get easier once you readjust, since you're used to staying up until 12 am.

Well what i do to make myself fall asleep is make...wait for it....MAGICAL ADVENTURES. Hehehehe its so fun to do and makes you drop off to sleep easily, well to me anyway. It makes your brain active but not active enough to keep you awake and the pictures you make up are also allowing yourself to fall asleep.
Just go to bed around 10 pm (thats a good time trust me) and just make some story up. Don't dwell on it too much just think that you can fly and your saving the day or your going on a jounery through a magical land. Its really simple, so simple your brain can fall asleep. Why a few times, the next day i can't remeber where i left off. Its so fun and simple, i've been doing it since i was 5 and its the best.
Me and my twin always used to call it think dreaming as all we needed to do was think about it and it would dream us to sleep but now think dreaming fits with lucid dreaming so i can't call it that anymore
Like i said go to bed around 10pm because thats probably when you will start to feel tired. I know what you mean that you go to bed at 12 because im probably the same like you, going to school and going to bed at 12. Just go to bed a 10 wake up at the same time you do and you can be amazed at what 2, yes 2, more hours can make.
Oh and its called imagination so im sure you can do it.
Im not afraid of the dark, its whats in it.
*the lights turn off and the whole room goes dark*
Oh im fin- Ahhhhhhhh its a scary figment of my imagination.

Pretty messed up, but you just gotta stabilize your sleep cycle...personally I *never* sleep past 1 PM or so, no matter how much or how little sleep I've gotten I always seem to wake up around there at the latest.

You could try a small dosage of melatonin 2-3 hours before bed, it has done wonders for me, don't get dependant though, I would only take it for a week or so to get the body used to falling asleep at a certain time.

Usually when I go work out (and by work out I mean lift weights and not treadmills) for an hour I'm in bed at least an hour earlier. If I do treadmills it's like 2 hours early.

One thing thats horrible though is, if you worry about getting to sleep while trying to fall asleep. It will keep you awake because it actually stresses you.
