Go to a doctor, he/she will give you some prescription 'meds'. They actually work. I tried a few OTC products before hand and nothing helped it. I still get some pimples but nearly even half of what I got.

      accutane dreams..

im getting accutane, its my last resort but i was reading a post on it on acne.org, and many users noticed really strange/vivid dreams while on it. Hmm. I'm looking foreward to see if it increases the number of lucids i get.

Before you go taking meds, try cutting down on your dairy intake first.

The milking machines they hook the cows up to cause udder infections, and as a result a lot of puss gets mixed in with the milk which causes acne.

I've been looking for some ways to treat it and I've sorta started developing my own system. Basically it involves not drinking milk (ive notcied that if i have milk and cereal i will breakout with lots of redness and spots the next day),, drinking loads and loads of water, and often putting toothpaste on a moderatly sized spot, which dries it out and is normally gone in the morning.

My system is kind of working, but its slow and I'm not even really sure why/if its working.

      Anyway the reason i made this thread;

I found this site. They have a really good plan and some good looking products on sale. But they are in the US and i dont know if i can be bothered getting the products shipped to the UK, and if its really worth it.

I could do that, or i could continue as i am and hope for the best.

Does anyone have any advice? Im sure theres lots of acne-sufferers out there with some advice
My face was pretty bad. I looked like a chocolate pizza . Then I bought three products that changed my skin. Palmer's cocoa butter soap, Palmer's cocoa butter stick, and Palmer's cocoa butter creme. I used the soap twice a day, and I used the stick all over my face and let it stay on (and rubbed it in) about 1 - 2 hours before bed. As I got up to go out during the day, I'd use the cocoa butter creme on my face as a lotion. My acne cleared up 80% in about three weeks. This includes acne scars. Now I'm 98% acne free with a nice complexion. You can view current pics in the pics thread in DV favorites. Hope this helps.

I find it interesting that you say that Jeff because I've used cocoa butter, exact same brand, my entire life (my mom's been using it since before I was born, and honestly smelling like chocolate is awesome) and it seems to neither hurt nor help my acne. I haven't really kept track of any scars.

[to anyone]: drink plenty of (filtered) water (avoid tap); half your body weight in ounces. (I weigh about 130lbs, so I drink at least 65oz of water every day.) avoid junk food like death. eat plenty of fresh, raw, (preferably organic) foods a day (fruits, vegetables, grains, nuts, fish, etc. plenty of everything).

do not brush your teeth with fluoride toothpastes.

"organic" toothpastes can be expensive, you can easily make your own with coconut oil, baking soda, and stevia (you can also add an essential oil like peppermint, spearmint, tea tree, whatever you like). I've been using such toothpaste for the past few days (sans essential oil, though I'd like to get some) and I love it, it tastes great. but definitely avoid fluoride, in water (it's put in tap) and toothpaste. I've read up on fluoride and (including being an industrial waste that they pawn as a tooth decay fighter so they can get rid of it- and make money off it at that) it has caused an allergic reaction (acne breakouts) in some people.

it isn't necessary to avoid all dairy products, the ones you want to avoid are any that have been pasteurized, homogenized, and come from a farm where the animals have been given hormones and fed on a non-organic diet. in other words, you should avoid all but organic, raw dairy products. (here's a list of places that have raw milk, at least in the States: http://www.realmilk.com/where1.html actually, this website here hails raw milk as the "king of foods for acne sufferers" so it might be worth looking into.)

get enough sunlight, but not so much that you burn, and avoid sunscreens (from the same site: http://www.absoluteacneinfo.com/guide/sun-acne.html ) (it seems like people today are being told to avoid the sun as if it's deadly. sunlight is very good for your skin, it's when you get too much that it's bad. the truth is, your body needs sunlight, not getting enough can cause everything from acne to depression. and, if you ask me, I think sunscreens cause cancer more than the sun does...at least with how people go about it these days.)

      get plenty of exercise.

there is a whole plethora of information on natural acne cures, just google it, "natural acne cures/remedies/treatments." I've been using this one:

      http://www.buzzle.com/articles/natur...home-remedies/

and I posted links to a couple articles above from this one: http://www.absoluteacneinfo.com/ (I haven't read all of this one but it looks good)

whatever you do, don't go buying a prescription drug before you try all of this. and give it plenty of time. I'm very anti-pharmaceutical. yeah, I'm biased, biased towards giving people real health information instead of trying to sell them drugs. how much money would the drug companies lose, if instead of telling people they need to buy such-and-such drug, all they need is to eat healthy, get exercise, and drink water? a lot. :|

just...whatever you do, for the love of god, don't buy this:

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bZQs8FSg4E

it's complete and utter crap. the pharmaceutical industry is trying to make everything a "medical condition" so they can convince you that you need a drug to treat it. so they can line their pockets with your cash! don't buy into their bullshit. :(

Ignorant bliss is an oxymoron; but so is miserable truth.
