I think I need a new laptop battery

I have this laptop: Review HP Compaq Presario CQ62 Notebook - Notebookcheck.net Reviews

I've been getting a message about how I should change my battery soon, and it doesn't hold the charge. I have to keep my laptop plugged in. Then today it stopped working altogether (coincidentally I dropped it and it slipped off my lap, but I don't know if that's the problem). I picked it back up and it was fine, but after five minutes it gave me a new battery error message, and even though it was plugged in, it wouldn't charge. So it turned off, and now it's pretty much dead.

Anyway, on to my question, I assume I have to buy a new battery. I found this: Amazon.com: HP Compaq Presario CQ62-110TU Battery: Computers & Accessories

      1. Will it fit my laptop?
      2. Is this a reliable buy or should I just buy it off-line? I'm always nervous about Internet purchases.
      3. Anything I could do to resuscitate my battery or is it dead and gone?

      1) if you laptop is the cq62 110tu then yes it will fit, however you have ti be sure, it seems like there are many laptops in the cq62 range

      2) Buying off a retailer can be just as unreliable as buying it online, however the you always take the risk with batteries. I'd say buy it online unless it's only a few dollars more in the shope E.g. 35$

      3) When batteries die tey are usually gone forever, it won't be work spending money on it.

I'm not sure if it's the 110TU, I'll have to look at it and see. I just don't want to buy it and have it not fit.

That should work. It says it meets or exceeds the original battery performance, which is good. If you aren't satisfied with it, send it back and demand a new one. I bought a laptop battery the other day on Amazon and it stopped working, but the company was very swift and nice about the free replacement.

Oh, good. I always get nervous about buying things on the internet because I feel like it'd be hard to get things settled if there's a problem. Okay, I think I'll buy this one.

1: Take out the battery and try to turn your machine on. If it is still dead wait before getting a new battery.

2: If possible try another AC adapter to eliminate the possibility of a faulty adapter.

3: If it still won't start, can you see any LED's lit? If not you have probably broken the DC socket where the the adapter plugs in (my expert opinion )

4: If you do have an LED lit and it won't start check the RAM modules are still properly secured in their slots as this can sometimes prevent startup on some models. Plug in an external monitor to check it isn't a screen fault, you may have to use the FN button and function buttons on the top row of your keyboard to switch from your laptop screen to your external monitor.

5: If your still in trouble you may have to call a repair dude or dudette.

      1. Tried it already. But how could it go on if there's no battery inside?

      2. Tried that too.

      3. Theres a redish orange led that flashes three times when I press the power button, it's right next to where the charger plugs in. But the fan doesn't go on or anything. After that they go off again.

      4. What is that? Do I have to open my laptop to get to it?

Edit: haha, what the heck, I used my brother's charger again and it's turning on.

Wait, I plugged mine in again and it seems to be working too. O_O
