Need help with Mutli Track recording.

      Hey people,

I've been using a simple multitrack recording & editting program called audacity to record music track by track. It used to work fine, but now suddenly whenever I've recorded a track and want to record another track over it it wont play the allready recorded track so I cant play synched with it. I can listen to the track only by pressing play, but it mutes all the tracks when I start a new recording. I don't know wether this is a problem of audacity or a problem of my OS settings, but can somebody help me fix this problem? I have Windows Vista, which is poop I know.

Like help me get previously recorded tracks of a song to play while a new recording is being made?

Weird. I dunno why it would be doing that.

I don't think I can help you too much, as far as what you can do about it now, but if all else fails, you could always reinstall it.

Ah, my field of work. I think you just accidentally changed a settings in your preferences. See if you can find a 'reset', or otherwise just reinstall, just like Oneironaut suggested.

you've muted the output feedback channel
Open up the mixer settings, and goto the record section

What you're looking for is the stereo channel that the soundcard uses as the speaker output (if that makes any sense)

It's often called "Stereo Mix" - although I've seen other names as well
