      Help with Google Chrome

Ok, so I've been using Google Chrome since it came out, and for the past month or two it had been slowing down noticeably. It was still fast, but occasionally it would start loading a page and just sit at a blank white page for a moment or two before finally loading it. Now however, it just sits at that blank white page permanently, it won't load anything. It was coming up with the option to either wait or kill the application at first, the kill option didn't work, and wait would just make it wait 5 more seconds before asking me again whether to kill or wait. Now it doesn't even do that anymore, it just sits a blank page not loading.

I tried reinstalling it, to absolutely no avail other than losing all of my bookmarks and favourites (a major piss off, I deleted everything and it still doesn't goddamn work). So I have no idea what else there is to do.

I'm not using a proxy or anything, I don't have a firewall, so I have no clue what could be causing this. Firefox and IE still work fine. I've tried googling it, but that didn't work. Any help would be appreciated, I've grown accustomed to Chrome and I would really like it back. As well as that, if anybody knows if theres any way I could get all my saved bookmarks back, that would be great as well.

Hmmm, I don't get this problem except the odd occasion when DV does that.

Are you sure you aren't talking about the thing where you try to post on DV, but it comes up with white screen?

My guess would be that Chrome's cache system is overloading. Try clearing Chrome's cache and reset it.

I already reinstalled the program, the cache is entirely empty. Like I said, it even deleted all of my bookmarks which I would love to get back if anybody knows how. The program is completely bare bones right now, it's a fresh install and it's still not loading anything.

No. I can't even get to my home page, where it shows a list of your most visited sites. It won't open anything at all.

Download and install this tool: http://www.fiddler2.com/fiddler2/

Then open it up, the run Chrome, post a screenshot of it.

Try to navigate to DV from Chrome while Fiddler's running. Then in Fiddler, click on the Inspector tab. You should see a request being made to dreamviews.com. Click on that, then post another screenshot please

Hmm, so Chrome is making the request, but they're failing for some reason. Click on the button that says "Response may be encoded..." Then click on Raw on both the top and the bottom.

Also, can you tell me if there is any way to get my bookmarks back? I had like three years worth of bookmarks I'd rather not lose, if possible....

Click on the Response may be encoded button again. The second one is the one I'm curious in. The first request it made was the autocomplete it seems.

Also, click "Raw" up top on the right

Well, it's not Chrome. Something is interfering with Chrome. I can tell by the fact that both autosuggestion requests returned something, but Fiddler says that they failed. My thought is that you have some spyware that targets Chrome specifically. My guess is that the spyware reroutes Chrome requests into it's own proxy, so it can see what you're searching for.

Use the steps here to find what Port your requests are going to: http://www.techolar.com/web-browser/...google-chrome/

Check the automatically detect settings box, then you should be able to use Chrome again If not, you'll have to wait for Ynot to help, or morning, I'm sleepy.

Hmm... I'm out of ideas. Out of curiousity, were you trying to install something while running Chrome, I noticed two installsheild requests fired.

No, I wasn't. However, it's randomly working now today. I don't know what the hell was wrong with it to make it randomly stop working for two days.... Still, is there any way to get my bookmarks back? Or are they lost forever?

Perhaps after setting the automatic settings, it needed a reboot to take effect I don't think you can get those bookmarks back, but it should automatically sync bookmarks with FF and Safari.

Unfortunately I lost all of my FF bookmarks several months ago when it crapped out on me, but figured it would be alright since they were saved into Google Chrome....

Oh well, at least the damn thing works again.... Thanks for your help.
