      A Free Anti-virus Software

Hi guys, I'm wondering if anyone knows a good anti-virus software that won't cause my PC to lag when it's not actually scanning (like AVG does ¬_¬).

I've also tried Avast!, and that is just a nightmare to use too. But if there really isn't anything else out there, I might just go back to getting one of these two softwares.

Any antivirus will make your computer lag... AVG and Avast are the best two out there m'afraid.

AVG is what I use. Even when running, I haven't noticed any lag. Have you updated/upgraded recently? You could also try setting it to "slow scan," which may help to reduce the lag encountered while scanning. Alternately, if you go ctrl+alt+del and call up the task manager, you can select the programs AVG is running and set them to a lower priority (though be careful with this, as it *may* cause system instability. Try and see), or give whatever task you're running a higher one.

Yeah, I used to use AVG as well, and since my PC isn't the best in the world, it did cause it to lag a lot, even when it's not scanning. I guess I should try changing the priority of the scan and see how that goes.
