Hypnogogic Hallucinationst and Sleep Transition at Bedtime

So, I haven't yet had much success at all with WILDing; my two 'induced' lucid dreams so far that I remember have only been dream induced, both after failed WILD attempts. Furthermore, I've only reached what I think is approaching the transition to sleep twice. The interesting thing is, neither time was in the middle of the night - they were both around when I first go to sleep. Both times, I felt fairly intense vibrations throughout my whole body, though I didn't see or hear anything unusual. I believe I became too excited, too quickly though, and they went away after a minute or so.

At first, these experiences kind of surprised me, because I've always accepted WILDing as only being possible with a WBTB or afternoon nap. And I do understand the science behind this, and it all makes sense why you wouldn't have vivid if any dreams in this time. On the other hand, it doesn't make sense why the actual process of falling asleep would be any different, and I don't think it is, so in theory, couldn't you go through the motions of WILDing at any time in your sleep cycle? What would happen if you successfully went through the transition early on in your sleep cycle?

Yes, it is probably a mostly useless question, but one that is somewhat interesting nonetheless. And maybe it could give those like me, who have trouble staying motivated at 4:00 in the morning, some practice. Anyways, just curious about your all's thoughts about all of this.

EDIT: Argh. Title failure, should be Hypnogogic Hallucinations. Sorry for the confusion!

Dreaming, I was only dreaming, of another place in time, where my family's from.
Singing, I can hear them singing, when the rain it washed away, all these scattered dreams.
