Hey, some people have to live without knowing what SP even is, and that was me at one point until I learned about lucid dreaming. They got it far worse than you and other people attempting WILD.
Sudden fear at the onset of SP stopped me the first few times, too. The more I mentally prepared myself for it: reading about the different types of hallucinations, types of vibrations... the easier it became to go with it once I hit SP again. Read up people's sleep paralysis experiences and see the different stuff can happen.
It's actually pretty fascinating to experience SP once you get the doubts and fear out, and adopt a bit of curiosity. I'll help you get a WILD.
And remember that, obviously, it's all in your mind. It's like a dream. If you don't like it, or you're feeling pain or soreness during the SP (it's happened to me before, but from what I've heard it's pretty rare), you can always change your breathing pattern to break out of it. For instance, if you were breathing slowly when the SP happened, start breathing faster but don't hyperventilate. Or take one quick breath and then a slow one. You know.
