Thumbs up am i getting close?

so this is my second attempt at WILDing, i was laying there and whatnot, i felt i think it was the early stages of SP, and my eyelids kept twitching, im guessing thats the REM? but i was finding it hard to keep my eyes closed.
then i felt the spinning blackness behind my eyelids, it was pulling me in and i was trying to focus on a town i wanna visit
but i slipped back out and i couldnt try again

it was much more intense than i imagined it though
and i kept getting distracted by people snoring, trains going by etc.

pretty sure REM is right after SP and you're actually dreaming. could be wrong. You're probably real close. I found the two main things when WILDing are: 1. have atleast 4.5hrs~ of sleep already before attempting 2. simply focus your awareness on breathing, everytime you get distrated by a thought pattern that turns into a crazy random story, revert your awareness back to your breathing, the more relaxed you get the harder this gets. Keep this up, believe in yourself, and soon your head will feel like its being sucked into a vacuum of some sorts, you'll feel a weird/uncomfortable feeling throughout your body(i feel it in my back sometimes, like its twisting almost). If you stayed calm throughout that process and just observed it, you'll likely be in a very quiet void-like area... trying simply floating up by having the intent to do so, if you can do it a bit you're in your dream!

      best of luck

I've been having the same problem, I thought it meant that I wasn't ready to enter a dream because I could feel my eyes moving around really fast under my eyelids and I knew that was REM, but I thought a dream failed to form. Going to try again tonight.

You didn't ask me...but I'll comment anyway. I think this is almost like that thing in Star Wars...where Luke tried to raise the ship out of the water. He couldn't do it....and said..."this is impossible". Yoda said..."That is why you failed". So I am trying to tell you that you must not question whether you're there or not. Assume you are...assume you can........don't check to see if it's happening......you don't need to. It is. You don't need to check. It's done.
