      WILD / DEILD practice

I want to practice WILD's and possibly DEILD's and I was wondering if someone had any suggestions for a practice system?

I was thinking about setting some kind of alarm device that goes off multiple times during the night, starting after 4 hours of sleep and then going off maybe every 30 minutes.
The idea is to maximize the WILD attempts I can perform during a single night.
Whenever the alarm wakes me up I'll attempt another WILD.

I'm not really sure what to use as the alarm device yet, I want something that just beeps 2 or 3 times to wake me up and then turns off.
I want to avoid having to turn the alarm off (move).

Any ideas for an alarm device or a schedule?
Has someone already done something similar and could provide some experiences with this?

      Cheers,
      Hyu

In my opinion that is the best way to start, when I first started attempting to WILD I set my alarm multiple times throughout the night to see what was my ideal time of lucid dreaming. After a couple nights of testing I came to the conclusion that six in the morning was my opportune time. Here is a great guide that includes an alarm clock with a 2-3 second mp3 alarm, good luck, if you have any questions feel free to ask!

      Great! Thanks for replying!
I'll try it out as soon as I figure out a way to set an alarm which turns off by itself.
Unfortunately I don't have an Iphone, which I'm guessing has 100 apps allowing you to do so.
I have a symbian 60v5 based phone, so I guess I'll look into how hard it is to program such an application for it.

What works even better than an alarm is auto-suggestion. Just go to bed with the intention of waking yourself up mid-cycle, and you probably will.

      I haven't thought of that.
I never really tried any form of auto-suggestion.

I know that I manage to wake up before the alarm clock goes off everytime I have an exam, so this is quite a reasonable idea.
Still, I'm a bit doubtful that I could pull it off so many times in a row, after all the goal is to wake up many times during a single night, and hopefully even come to a conclusion as to which time of the night works best for me for WILD's.

One thing you can do is set an alarm at the time your rem period is. Do this using your cell phone or something. For the next 3 or 4 days practice wilding. After that you should start to notice your self waking up before your alarm even goes off. This is because your conscience doesn't like to be shocked awake.

When this happens, you can start practicing dields. Just train your self not to move or open your eyes when you wake up.

      Repeat every week
Current status: Practicing my WILD method.

In my opinion, you shouldnt try to maximize the amount of WILDs you perform, as that can disturb your sleeping schedule and the amount of sleep you get. What I recommend is that you do one WILD, but practice stabilization techniques to elongate the dream time. That way, you just do one hell of a WILD and since you are staying in a dream longer, you should be satisfied.

It wouldnt mess up the sleep schedule to do DEILDs to prolong the WILD. So my approach would be to do 1 WILD, then DEILD 2 or 3 times to extend that REM. But after that, call it a day.

My goal is to practice the transitioning part of WILD's, not to have multiple WILD's per night.
I've managed to do it a few times, but I feel like I don't really know how I've done so.
I don't intend to go all crazy and try to have like 10 WILD's every night, I just want to get a better understanding on how to WILD.
I figured the Christmas break would be a good time for this.
Hopefully I'll get more accustomed to SP and transitioning into a dream, and my future WILD attempts will be more likely to succeed.

Yeah, that is the golden skill that we need to successfully WILD, one method that I find interesting is to find an anchor, something to keep your attention on while transitioning, such as the pain sensations, back of your neck, or spine, breath, etc.

I tried to focus on breathing at first, but I really have a lot of trouble with it.
It causes me to breath manually, which I really don't like because I feel it takes too much of my attention.
I also usually get the racing heart feeling if I concentrate on breathing.

I found that for myself, focusing on that high pitched tinnitus sound you hear if you listen for it long enough to work quite well.
I used this method for my last few successful WILD's, I think I'll be sticking with it.

Unfortunately I couldn't start my practice yet because I have a bad cough which makes it impossible to WILD.
I'll report back if I get any results though.
