WILD / False Awakening - questions for experienced people

So I read briefly about WILD a few weeks back and tried it out last night. I wasn't sure what happened, but I re-read the tutorials and realize that actually I had a false awakening.

I was lucid, but I just went with the setting of the dream. This is not the first time that I've been lucid in a dream- that has happened off and on accidentally my whole life. But this IS the first time that I've ever been lucid for any long period of time. I was lucid from the moment I fell asleep until the alarm clock went off which was actually only about ten minutes of real time.

So for those of you who have experience with WILD or with being lucid in a false awakening dream, I have some questions about it all.

First off, is it normal to see really detailed things that you did not consciously create? I had control over my thoughts and my actions for the most part and I knew I was dreaming the whole time, but the setting and things around me seemed to come from nowhere. Can I learn to change them?

Second, from the moment I got out of bed in the dream, I felt this weird compulsion in my body- I could not be still but was in a constant state of movement. I basically just flew around a lot because I couldn't calm down. I could control where I went, but I couldn't be still. Is that normal or just some weird quirk of the dream?

Third, at the end of the dream, though I was still completely lucid, I was not able to think clearly about what I was doing. It's more like I'd just get a thought to go somewhere and then go there laughing and flying around like a hysterical crazy person. Is this about dream control or was I just losing lucidity? Happened to you?

      Thanks.

In my opinion, there really is no normal or abnormal when it comes to false awakenings and WILD experiences, they can be very wild and range in their contrast. I too have noticed that in false awakenings, the vividness seems to increase and become much more detailed maybe because you really believe it to be real.

I have had control issues with false awakenings as well, I usually am paralyzed in this stage. Can you change the setting? You should be able to because it is a dream, but I have noticed that with increased clarity and vividness, control diminishes, but just what I have heard on that issue though.

I've only had two Lucid dreams, so I'm not an expert, but I will try to help you if I can.

It seems like your LD was a lot like my second one. I didn't see anything detailed in my dream (I never do), but I did go through the inability to keep myself still. It seemed as I was too energetic to not move, and I constantly flew. The dream seemed like it was happening in fast forward. As for your third point, I've felt the same thing. I (for one) was fighting off a mob of enemies and I just fought without really thinking clearly. I pretty much lost control and woke up.

Well, take from this what you will. Hopefully I was able to answer some of your questions!

      Thanks, and Happy New Year!

I was wondering if maybe our dreams are always so vivid but if we aren't lucid then we don't notice it as much or remember it as much. The vividness in this dream was so real looking! Usually my dreams are vivid anyway, but the difference with this one was that it was really like I was looking at something real rather than how it seems in a regular dream when you experience something rather than just see it if you know what I mean

Hi thanks- that was helpful. And Happy New Year.

I'm glad to hear that compulsion to move has happened to other people. I've read more about control and other experiences, so I think this is normal when people first start to induce a lucid dream. Probably when we stop thinking clearly abotu what we are doing, we are just losing control. I don't know what would've happened if my alarm clock would've gone off. Probably I would've just faded into a normal semi-lucid dream. I have those pretty frequently- when I'm dreaming and realize I'm dreaming but the dream keeps happening anyway and I keep acting like the dream is real without any thought. This one was completely different becauseI was really making lucid choices about what to do in the dream. Also the feeling was different. Well anyway, it was cool and I see how this can get addictive for people.

Thanks Aquanina, and sorry about that. I'd posted in the general section first before I realized that there was a section just for WILDs, so I reposted when I saw I'd posted in the wrong place. Happy New Year!
