Whats up dude. Welcome to Dreamviews! I'm digg'n the FLCL avatar, btw.
Hmm...even if you do enter SP when WILDing upon first going to sleep (which you have), its often very hard to make the transition to the actual dream state. It is sooo much easier to WILD with WBTB or during day time naps. I don't recommend trying to WILD at the start of sleep. It can get you frustrated and you don't want that when trying to LD. Stay positive.
As for your progress, it sounds like you are doing pretty well. You have gotten into SP already, which is good. Now usually the dream scene(s) will form around with time and you never have to actually open your eyes (they will already be opened after the transition). Sometimes WILDs will trick you, but it is more rare than other forms of lucids. If you make the transition, 90% of the time, you will know that you are in a dream state without having to RC or "test it." You will just be able to stand up or whatever and go about your dream. There won't be any doubt in your mind that you are dreaming. It is a different feeling (you'll understand once you make the transition). Majority of the time you will be in the same place you fell asleep (or at least the same room), which may cause you to think twice, but if you think twice...just perform a RC.
Just stay calm and relaxed, and make sure you aren't thinking about the swallowing aspect. If you are fighting off the urge to swallow, then you are staying too connected with you actual body. That can cause instability during the process. I suggest completely ignoring your swallowing. If you need to swallow and it is bugging/distracting you...go ahead and do it. It won't hurt your chances of success. Just stay as calm and as relaxed as possible through the entire process. Casually observe your HI/HH and let the dream form around you itself. You don't have to do anything at all. Stay positive and know in your mind 100% that you will succeed. Don't doubt your chances and you will eventually get. Just keep practicing. WILDing is like an art form really. It can be difficult if the dreamer makes it that way, but it doesn't have to be. Just practice and gain experience. Soon you will make that breakthrough and it only gets easier from there. Good Luck to you and hope I helped out a bit!
