      DEILD problems

      The mantras work well,
'I'll be aware of waking after every dream' works. I wake up a lot in the middle of the night.
I just cant consciously get to the DEILD though...I feel groggy...tired..delirious..and I fail getting into it because I'm just a bit confused as to what's going on and my mind is too busy set on the previous dream I had. I think about it constantly while awake, as if it was real, trying to solve problems that I had in that dream, or planning this, that, whatever was raised in the dream, I attempt to think about.

Any tips for a successful DEILD?

For DEILD to work, you have to do it immediately. You reenter the dream before you even really have a chance to think about anything. Just lie still, and let yourself fall back to sleep. Don't struggle to think clearly, or you will wake up too much. You are supposed to be confused and disoriented. This is why it is best to have a method prepared and practiced ahead of time. You don't really have time to make any decisions. Just start doing whatever method comes to mind first.

To be honest, I have rarely had success DEILDing if I didn't become conscious either prior to waking up, or as I am waking up. If you wake from a dream and think, "I should DEILD." Then it is going to be difficult to succeed. Just waking up and making a decision can be enough to ruin your chances for DEILD success. Its primarily used when you have one of those dreams where you realize you are waking from a dream as you are waking up, or you become lucid right at the end of a dream, or if you are chaining lucids. It can be achieved after waking, but you have to be right on top of it and catch it early.

Yeah, even when you return to trying to WILD, I would still recommend training/practicing for DILD at the same time. Generally, DILD is where most of your lucids will come from anyway. It is good to always do a little something toward DILD every day whether you are working on other techniques or not. Also, if you haven't already, start and keep up with a dream journal to go along with performing RCs and mantras. I would completely abandoned WILD though, if you happen to wake up in the night or want to take a nap during the day...go ahead and give it a shot. Maybe you will make a breakthrough trying WILD whenever an opportunity arises, as opposed to creating the opportunities yourself. Good luck to you and feel free to ask questions or update me as your process carries along. Stay positive!
