If you are that focused on your actual body then this can definitely cause problems. It doesn't mean you are doomed to fail, but it can make hitting SP difficult. Don't forget that the primary goal of the WILD process is to fall asleep. If you are laying awake for long periods of time with no results...you may be too awake/not tired enough. During WBTB, try not to stay awake as long before attempting the WILD. For naps, I would suggest performing some sort of relaxation technique and make sure you are tired enough to fall asleep. It doesn't matter how long you lay there, if you can't fall asleep...you won't succeed. Since you are having this breathing problem, I would suggest using a different anchor than focusing/counting breathes. I like to observe the darkness in my closed eyes. let your mind wander, but never lose site of that darkness. It is like a constant running back drop. Once you hit SP, you will begin to experience HH/HI. Now you shift your anchor to the HH/HI, but only casually observe it. Act as if you are watching only a semi-interesting movie. |
