If it was a nap, you shouldn't be too tired to fall asleep..? Maybe you are doing it wrong?

Joe that is a good thing. You want to fall asleep...its required. You just need to work on an anchor that will provide you with just enough attention that you won't lose consciousness while you are falling asleep. The whole idea of a WILD is to stay aware as you fall asleep. I simply observe the darkness of my closed eyes and keep it as a running background to my thoughts. I let my mind wonder and edge toward sleep, but I never forget about the darkness that I am seeing. There are many other anchors you can try as well.

yeah it worked last night, i just focused on the darkness and the images thatwould show. but then after a while the cat whoke me up.

When is the best time to do a WILD? because ive been trying it at night, but some say its better to do it in the morning or during a nap.

The best times to WILD are during WBTBs (wake back to bed) and naps. WBTBs generally work best after at least 4 hours of sleep. Keep in mind that the further along the sleep cycles is, the longer the REM periods will last. The popular times to attempt these are after 4-7 hours of sleep. With naps, the best time is 1-8 hours after waking in the morning. Keep in mind that the longer you wait after waking, the harder it will become to transition into the dream state.
